Reviews for Deep Blue Sea
Deep Blue Sea is an enjoyable little B-movie, mean and gory and single-minded in its pursuit of cheap thrills.
The thrills are such a rush, however, and the balance of digitized and analog effects is generally so satisfying that pic’s sheer dumbness finally becomes part of the fun.
Deep Blue Sea is full of half-completed characters doing generally stupid things.
Renny Harlin’s pretty good when things happen fast and not much good when characters talk slow – or at all.
The characters in the story make one stupid decision after another, as if they were trying hard to fail the ultimate pop quiz.
Director Renny Harlin uses sound well and moves that camera around with lean, mean, visceral clout.
For action-starved audiences suffering through a summer drought of flying glass and fiery explosions, this cheese barge may hit the spot.
