At over two and a half hours, the film's epic scale may not suit some Western viewers, but those willing to surrender themselves to the drama are in for a real treat.

Reviews for Devdas
The entire film has an overwhelming hugeness to it that's hard to resist.
Aishwarya Rai's natural beauty anchors the film's three best musical numbers, which balance out the slower and heavier melodramatic parts. All in all, a classy production.
There's more to Devdas than extravagance; the emotion and passion of the story is felt just as strongly in every frame as the budget.
When a movie throws as much at you as Devdas does, it’s easy to forgive minor disappointments.
Opulence rules. So does emotion. Pack a lunch and have an experience because Bollywood beckons.
It's all vastly sumptuous, though the spectacle frequently overwhelms the dramatic impact.
It does what the movies were meant to do: move, dance and swirl in the popular imagination.
