A popular situation comedy of the late 1960s and early '70s, this show was initially wholesome family fare that followed young widow Doris Martin (Doris Day) and her two young sons, Billy (Philip Brown) and Toby (Todd Starke). At its start, the family had left the congestion of San Francisco to live with Doris's dad, Buck, on his ranch, located just outside the city in Mill Valley; Doris gave up a career as a singer to make the move, and much of the show's humor came from her attempts to adjust to the unfamiliar country life. By the third season, however, the show had left that premise in the dust as Doris and the kids made the move to San Francisco, where they lived above an Italian restaurant and Doris moved toward a writing career for TODAY'S WORLD magazine. But by the fourth season Doris was suddenly, without explanation, a single woman living alone with a busy love life. This collection presents all five seasons of this breezy, if schizophrenic, series. [More]
