The Dukes of Hazzard: The Early Years
by Scott Weinberg | April 28, 2006
Discuss Article
IGN FilmForce & Production Weekly report that, sigh, there's going to be a direct-to-video prequel to "The Dukes of Hazzard." If visions of that really awful "Dumb & Dumberer" prequel just popped into your head, trust me, you're not alone.

From IGNFF: "The Dukes prequel will reportedly "follow Bo and Luke Duke as teenagers during their first wild weeks in Hazzard County. While Boss Hogg outlaws moonshine in an attempt to establish his own monopoly, the boys get into a heap o' trouble making deliveries of the now-illegal liquor for Uncle Jesse in an effort to save his farm from foreclosure, and we learn the origins of the General Lee and Daisy Duke's daisy dukes."

No casting news just yet, but the director has been named: Bob Berlinger, TV veteran who's helmed everything from "The Golden Girls" to "Arrested Development."

Yeee-haaaa!

Without the leads from the original and Willie Nelson as Uncle Jesse it will suck!

Well, as long as it's a "heap" o' trouble, then OK
Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't they pretty much teenagers in the first movie?

I am one of the few that thought dukes of hazzard funny. You just have to like that kind of funny. It's opinion, really. anyway, if you're going to make ANYTHING, then make a sequel, rather than a preuel. If they're supposedly teenagers, I doubt they'll have the same cast. And for most critics and movie-goers, that's what kept this movie alright. I, personally, think Seann William Scott is very hilarious when he gets the right part in a movie. Most movies that most others didn't enjoy. Such as Rundown, American Pie, and the first Dukes.

i was in the small crowd of the people who thought the first dukes movie was halerious it's kindof boring now that i've seen it like 8-10 times but it's still funny and direct-to-video things always suck and prequels and sequels suck if none of the cast comes back

I, too, was in the group that thought the first movie was very good. I'm a big fan of Johnny Knoxville, Seann William Scott, and Jessica Simpson and I also think Willie Nelson is very funny and I like him. Yes, the original was one of my favorite movies of last year.
