Quentin Tarantino to Visit Camp Crystal Lake?
by Scott Weinberg | March 08, 2005
Discuss Article
IGN Filmforce was the first to break some movie news that has delighted some and nauseated others: could filmmaker Quentin Tarantino be setting his sights on directing a new "Friday the 13th" sequel? As crazy as that sounds, it just might happen! Variety reports that QT is scheduled for a meeting with the New Line execs (and that fans probably shouldn't be holding their breath), but IGN Filmforce was the first outlet to report this juicy bit of news. Whether or not Tarantino will actually sign on to write and direct "The Ultimate Jason Voorhees Movie" remains to be seen, but it sure is a fascinating little possibility.

I hope he does a good job on it. I love F13 movies. Anything will be better than Jason X though........

Seems pretty obscure
But Quentin would do amazing things with it no doubt

Though, I'd rather see him direct a Nightmare on Elm Street... lol

WTF?
first rumors about QT doing the next bond movie, then I heard he was going to do a kung fu movie a little like the shawn brothers'
now he's doing this?? I'm not saying he wouldn't do a good job, it's just that F13 movies are horror B-movies. and the other stuff QT has DIRECTED has been far from anything like this.

Yeah, same here. Cuz then it actually makes more sense because the Nightmare on Elm Street series actually had decent genre directors - Wes Craven, Chuck Russell (The Mask), Renny Harlin, and Stephen Hopkins (Lost in Space).

an error?
i mean, i love jason flicks... ok the first one, an i love tarantino, but i'm not sure if that is a good idea... because all the jason movies other than the first have been crap. and the error is... the movie they are talking about says Friday the 13th (1933) <------ Is that an error or what?

I hated the first Friday the 13th movie. It cant even count as a Jason movie cause he's only in it for about 10 seconds. I found all the Friday the 13th's to be late night cheesy fun. Quentin could do great things for the franchise. So is this going to be just Jason? I thought there was supposed to be a sequel to Freddy vs Jason. Anyways, I Know a lot of people hate F13 movies but I find them really fun to watch. I wonder if Quentin is going to make the movie scary or really gory and action packed. I hope its all three!

Oh absolutely. But you have to admit that it can be amusing to pass the time imagining odd matchups for movie and director. Imagine QT remaking "The Odd Couple" with Samuel Jackson, for instance. Or maybe I'm just easily amused.

The only way a new f13 would work is if they went back and redone the original, and actually change it around so we wont feel like were watching the same movie.Tarentino is a great director and im pretty sure that no matter what genre he takes on will be done well .Im not a big friday the 13th fan ,but maybe a remake will turn me around ,even though the latest horror movie remakes have failed to do so.

There's certainly been a lot of rather unexpected Tarantino news recently... I wonder if some of it's wrong.

friday the 13th is such a blatant rip off of halloween why doesnt tarantino use his talents to write more original screenplays instead of this and tv shows

Bring it on...
Halloween sucked just as bad, if not worse than Friday the 13th. When I first heard the news Tarantino was interested I thought, "Oh no." Then I started thinking about how interested I was in seeing it. It has just as much potential to be awesome as it does to suck hosewater. Either way, if Tarantino directed it - I'd see it. He's only let me down once, but at least Jackie Brown was somewhat entertaining.

Or at least the odds are llike 10% or less....I laugh at people who react to rumors so strongly.

i dunno..
...seeing as how Tarantino is an affirmed John Carpenter fan, i'd think he'd be trying out a Halloween movie before a Jason movie.

Although, i think QT's tendency towards hyper-stylized violoence WOULD work best in a Friday the 13th film...

Still, i'll believe this when i see it...
