hmmm..pleasant surprise...just went up half a notch on my "cool-meter".
I may have said earlier this was going to suck...still won't retract that comment, but if future pics are good, may have to eat my words...

i DON'T KNOW WHY THEY EVEN HAD TO CAST THE 3RD ROCK KID AS cobra commander. From what it sounds like it will be an origin story for him so most of the movie will be him without the maskbecoming Cobra Commander. We never knew what he looked like. He was never unmasked, and right of the bat they are taking that away. Thats like having snake eyes without a mask or talking. We should never know what Cobra Comander looks like and now we do .

He looks like Shadow from Final Fantasy 6.

I wonder if he'll actually have lines...?

Cool. I like Park and hope the film isn't too geared towards kids.

Sorry, I guess that was an imcomplete thought.

I was referring to how when he was Darth Maul they overdubbed his voice. Poor Ray's voice never showep up. Also, I thought that one of the G.I. Joe ninjas was mute... I might be misremembering.

But he definetely looks likeShadow from Final Fantasy.

I loved G.I. Joe as a kid, one of my favorite childhood shows/toys, but I have a feeling this will be an abomination and I will not see it.

There won't be any lines, as Snake Eyes is mute. Even in "flashback" stuff before he was injured, you almost never see Snake Eyes talking...

As for a (much earlier) comment about who's playing Storm Shadow (the 'other ninja'), that would be Byeon-Heon Lee. You an see him (and Scarlett) right here...

I have to say, the pistol looks silly. It's like "HERE'S A F'N NINJA... and his 9 mil."

Couldn't they have given it a tricked out slide, and at least given it a suppressor for the whole ninja angle? I mean, I know they are just promo shots, that probably isn't even the final gun. Still, it looks awkward and out of place.

The first incarnation of the Snake Eyes toy (one back before the version Ray Parks seems to be based off of) did have something that definetly resembled a ski mask with what could be considered goggles. I think that's what he was refering to.

That's why I responded the way I did. Snakes Eyes is the mute, so no lines. However -lol- put nothing past hollywood. Never know, he could wind up being the flip side of the Bumblebee coin. ;-)

Don't forget that the original toy was NOT a ninja. This figure was originally just marketed as "commando." The comics started that way, also, but his character was (*GASP*) developed. In the more recent comics, he was also moving away from the ninja and back toward his commando roots. This picture shows exactly what it should - a commando ninja, or a ninja-trained commando, take your pick.

BTW, it's not a 9mm, it's 5.7mm (FN Five-SeveN). ;)

I just caught the end of Secret's Out with Leonard Maltin, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt was on talking about Stop-Loss. Maltin brought up G.I. Joe and and course Gordin-Levitt has been sworn to secrecy, anyway he basically said, "I want to be clear that G.I. Joe is not a soldier movie and is nothing like Stop-Loss at all." He seemed to throw in as an after-thought, "It is a lot of fun though." He seemed to already be apologizing for the movie. If I was the film's director or one of the producers I would have been pretty annoyed at how negative the comment came off. It wasn't brutal, but sure as hell wasn't very positive either.
