The story starts off when a boy comes to Wolfe's door with a mystery: he's seen a woman with golden spider earrings driving an expensive car and silently calling out for help. Wolfe decides to investigate, and before long, things take an ugly turn. Chaykin captures Wolfe's fastidiousness perfectly while maintaining the strong sense of dignity essential to the character. Hutton's entertainingly sarcastic voice-over narration gets across not only Goodwin's frustration with Wolfe but also his tremendous respect for the man. [More]
