Seriously? Will Smith always plays Will Smith; how hard is that? I've gotten tired of his shtick. It worked in MiB, but has been wearing thin ever since.

Will Smith is my favorite actor and I always enjoy his movies. Out of all his movies I've seen the only ones I'd that are really bad would be Shark Tale and Wild Wild West. Other than that his other movie have been pretty solid. I'm disappointed Hancock wasn't fresh but that still won't stop me from seeing it. Maybe its just not as good as his previous films.

It would be interesting to see what would happen if there was actually any competiton for Hancock this weekend (meaning movies that are opening this weekend). Since every studio has stayed out of his way, he has been handed a #1 spot even if the entire film is Will Smith sitting on a toilet taking a crap... and, based on the reviews, it isn't much better than that.

Yeah your right, even though I will probably see it because I am lazy and got no job lol. But if someone is out there who hardly goes to the movies they should probably skip this to see good quality super hero flicks like Iron Man, HB II next week, and of course The Dark Knight which we all know will be amazing. Also Roger Ebert and Peter Travers liked Hancock, so that is kind of another reason why I will see it, and ofcourse if I am going to see a movie I know theres a big chance I wont like it then I have way too much time on my hands.

Berg, thanks for ruining a great idea. Mann should drop him as his protege, take on Nolan. Now Nolan is Manns protege, I see a lot of the same stuff in Nolans work compared to Mann.

Berg just plain out sucks, mediocre director who shouldn't have been given the greenlight for a blockbuster.

I saw it last night. I liked it alot. He was very funny. The CGI could have been done better but it was not bad. I've definitley seen much worse this year.

Well, I got to see Hancock yesterday at the special advance screening and I would say that though it is not the best product of Will Smith it was not at all a bad movie. I kinda liked it ... as a matter of fact it was more entertaining than Wanted !! Well thats my 2 cents !!

Saw it last night as well. To me, it starts off awesome - it's fun, and sarcastic and it's different from any other superhero flick that's come out. But then it starts to take itself seriously, and then it kinda gets terrible. Really, really terrible.

I was surprised over how much Will Smith cursed in that movie - I was always under the impression he was like, an advocate of not needing to curse in stuff. But him and Bateman were definitely what keeps the movie afloat as long as it manages too before being bludgeoned to death with the crap script.

I'd give it 2.5 outta 5 stars if I did that sort of thing.

I just saw Hancock last night too...though it wasn't great, its far from terrible IMO. Smith was pretty good as a surly super hero and it was actually pretty damn funny. Bateman was great too. All in all, not a bad flick to hold over all of those waiting for the greatness of TDK.

Hancock unfortunately fails at being entertaining. If it can be compared with any other superhero movies, it would be pretty close to Spider-Man 3 and Hulk (1993), while the CGI is even worse and the shaking camera is just as silly as in Battlefield Earth.

i just saw Hancock today and i thought it was going to be a bad movie because of all the bad reviews it's been getting, but it really wasn't bad..well it wasn't great, but it offers something a bit different from other typical superhero movies....

i thought the first hour of the movie was good and i enjoyed it very much, but then then the story got weird and too serious towards the end.

i don't know about this film, its one of those films where you have a bad feeling that its gonna suck, but will smith is still a great actor he just acts in some bad movies such as jakethesnakemane said, but he also has some good movies liek MIB great movie, just not the sequel, and i am legend was a disappointment as well....

Hancock was fine. It does not deserve the horrible reviews it's been getting. I agree with moviebuff007 that it was more entertaining than Wanted (now THERE'S a disappointment). It was very funny in parts, and though not perfectly executed, the idea was a good one. It was an enjoyable summer film.

Due to the negative reviews I was going to pass on Hancock. I only decided to tag along and see the film when a friend expressed interest. I was very pleasantly surprised to find it a nicely done bit of entertainment with an "indie comic" feel. It definitely deserves much, much better ink than it's getting.

To all those people posting negative reviews who haven't even seen the movie, you should take your haterade somewhere else. I saw the movie yesterday. While it wasn't great, Will Smith does a good job. The movie is very funny at times. If you go in with realistic expectations, you will not be disappointed.
