First "Harry Potter 5" Pics Hit the 'Net!
by Scott Weinberg | September 25, 2006
Discuss Article
It's been at least 8 days since I posted some new "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" information, so listen up: The first movie stills have been posted online. Run, don't walk, Potterites!

The pics can be found at TheScotsman.com. And here's some of the accompanying text: "Harry Potter fans have been given a sneak preview of the latest movie with the release of the first stills from "Order of the Phoenix," the fifth film in the series based on JK Rowling's books.

In one image, Daniel Radcliffe, the actor who plays the young wizard, is seen crouching in an grimy alleyway as he attempts to defend himself from an attack by the Dementors.

In another, Imelda Staunton, who plays Dolorees Umbridge, the latest teacher of the dark arts, stands in Hogwarts school wearing a pink tweed poncho. Maggie Smith, as Minerva McGonagall, clasps her arms round Emma Thompson, looking uncharacteristically frumpy as Sybil Trelawny.

David Bradley is also back as Argus Filch, the caretaker and bane of Harry's existence, in a role he has played since "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone" in 2001.

The images are the first officially sanctioned stills from the film, which is set for release next July. Their release comes just weeks after Warner Brothers executives fought to remove grainy home video from the internet showing Radcliffe and his co-stars Rupert Grint and Emma Watson filming a scene at King's Cross station in London."

His hair bugs me, Umbridge isnt very toad-like...its too early to tell how this flick is gonna be though; its going to be so edited since it was such a big book and theyre doin it in one movie, but the 4th was long and they managed so, we will see.

The casting for Umbridge was horrible. Looks nothing like what her description in the book was (except the hair, at least they got that minor detail right). She looks more like a Satanic grandma.

Why everything should follow the book?????? Even Umbridge is not toad-like in movie, she's still ugly woman to you!
Ugly woman or man really not need to look toad-like, just annoying and make you dislike!

Does it matter?
Everyone is going to see this movie no matter what these frist pics look like. And again, they are only the first. We all criticize the movies and how they fail to follow the books, but we still see them. They still make over $200 million. I just think that WB is stupid for not doubling their profit by releasing them in 2 part movies. That is a guaranteed $400 million a book. Not too shabby.

They are stupid not to do that, they could have gotten away with it for Books 4 and 5 at least...6 I think they can do in one because there really wasn't that much there, and the jury is still out on 7...but yeah...could have doubled their profit, done better justice to the books, etc etc...they should at least have 'master' editions or something like that, like the LotR trilogy did...granted I personally don't own any of those special editions...heh, lol.

Yes, WB is really big-headed, they waste money to make "Poseidon"!
Since Harry Potter 4 was graded "PG" rating, what's the point to make film's running limited 2 hours and 30 minutes????? THey can make longer to 3 hours and let the film to say story clear! Or even make it two films.

Just so you know, there are a few more NEW pictures over at both mugglenet.com and ign.com. They include a better pic of Umbridge (my opinion of her has slightly risen), a shot of the 'DA' (the kids who play Neville and Luna look awesome!), Luna with wand/radish earings, and a few other random shots.....still not diggin' Harry's hair though, although it seems everyone has gotten some sort of hair cut...lol, later
