monkeyonaspring writes: on Nov 12 2008 04:02 PM Too bad he kinda sold out the comic. The movies turn it into a comedy romp, not horror adventure... (Reply to this) |

jokerboy1991 writes: on Nov 12 2008 04:28 PM I got a chance to meet him a few months ago at comic con, seemed like a good guy. The HELLBOY comics are great, and I really like the movies and I really hope there is a 3rd one! I love that version of Beauty and the Beast! Good list, but I have to admit I have not scene HENRY V yet, but since the director just got hired for THOR I think I have too. (Reply to this) |

Matanuki writes: on Nov 12 2008 04:52 PM Finally the "Five Favorites" feature gets its sights back on interesting people! And two thumbs flying straight up for Mignola naming 'Basquiat' as one of his five. (Reply to this) |

AntonChigurh writes: on Nov 12 2008 05:06 PM Just seen Hellboy2 today and I enjoyed it quite a bit, more so than the first. Have not seen any of the movies on Mr. Mignola's list but they seem like solid picks. (Reply to this) |

jokerboy1991 writes: on Nov 12 2008 05:15 PM In reply to this comment (#2126501) Yeah, I think the more and more you watch the Hellboy movies the more you end up liking them. (Reply to this) |

martinscorsese25 writes: on Nov 12 2008 05:15 PM hellboy 2 is much funny than hellboy 1, but that does not make it a better effort... i think del torro did'nt do alot of effort on the story... yes the characters were great and the film had some great character design, but the film did'nt deliver much, Del Torro just settled with 'Can't Smile Without you' and make the film funny.. it's not a good as Hellboy one and nowhere near Pan's Labyrinth... cjmovieman writes: on Nov 12 2008 05:28 PM fantastic list the bride of frankenstein is certainly the best monster flick and john houston's Moby Dick is fabulous, gregory Pecks performance is chilling (Reply to this) |

ledawg1138 writes: on Nov 12 2008 05:43 PM Don't compare them with "Pan's Labyrinth". One's a popcorn flick, and the other's Oscar bait. And jokerboy, I envy you. You met him? WOW! Never heard of Basquait. I love Hellboy. (Reply to this) |
|
vitajex writes: on Nov 12 2008 05:47 PM I still can't believe they made a Henry V. I saw "Henry"s I through IV, and I thought that that film series jumped the shark when they had Henry face off against a Russian czar who said "I will breaketh thee". Plus, that big fight scene at the end of III where Henry takes on an entire squad of ninja assassins? That was so lame! You could see the wires and everything! (Reply to this) |

Mr. Bo Ziffer writes: on Nov 12 2008 05:54 PM I'll admit I havn't seen a few of these, but I can definitely see Beauty And The Beast and Bride Of Frankenstein in his comics. Have to check them out. (Reply to this) |

Jen Yamato writes: on Nov 12 2008 06:24 PM I recommend anyone interested in the Hellboy films watch del Toro's fantastic commentary tracks on the DVDs - he's one of the most candid filmmakers in that regard, and goes into incredible detail (especially on the Hellboy II DVD) explaining his thoughts behind every tiny detail of production, design, etc. He's going to appear on a Hellboy II Blu-ray BD-Live chat as well this month, if anyone is so inclined. (Reply to this) |

jokerboy1991 writes: on Nov 12 2008 08:05 PM In reply to this comment (#2126602) Yeah his commentary is good on HB II, all his commentaries are great and they always give great insight and of course the special features are great! Its a great dvd set. (Reply to this) |

ledawg1138 writes: on Nov 12 2008 08:53 PM DUDE! I've got to meet him! Closest I ever got to a comic book writer is Brian Micheal Bendis. I only saw him, never met him. (Reply to this) |

Thelastholdout writes: on Nov 13 2008 07:17 AM In reply to this comment (#2126567) I don't suppose you enjoyed the "American History" series either. I agree that they were total cash grabs. It was a relief to see it end after TEN ****ING MOVIES! (Reply to this) |

cypress550 writes: on Nov 13 2008 10:28 AM hellboy 2 was a little bit better than the first but i do love them both, and they do have good commentary tracks. (Reply to this) |

Madeline D. writes: on Nov 23 2008 02:26 PM Have to agree with Mr. Campbell here. If you didn't think the Hellboy, BPRD, and 1946 were darkly humorous along with the outright blood and guts, you may have to read them again. :) (Reply to this) |
|
Madeline D. writes: on Nov 23 2008 02:31 PM If you were unable to recognize the dark humor in the Hellboy, BPRD, 1946, and other series by Mike Mignola and his crew, perhaps you might want to reread them. Selling out? HOW? I have read all of their efforts and enjoyed the movies immensely. It is like watching James Bond movies - you go in expecting lots of action, a little story, a little tongue in cheek and read the books for the rest... (Reply to this) |

Mr.Saguaro writes: on Jul 30 2009 05:20 PM ****yeah, finally Basquiat on a top 5 list! I love him for that :D and for the Hellboy comics (Reply to this) |
