Shia LaBeouf as Indiana Jones Jr.?
by Scott Weinberg | February 20, 2007
Discuss Article
Let's just toss this particular piece of movie gossip into the "wait and see" pile to see how it turns out. According to a few sources, word is that Shia LaBeouf may be cast as the son of Indiana Jones in the next Indy flick.

Yes, Shia LaBeouf, that likable goofball from "Holes," "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle," "Constantine," "Disturbia," and the summer's Merchant/Ivory production "Transformers." According to AICN (and JoBlo and CHUD.com), that's the news: Indy Jr.

That's all we got, really. No more details than that. But if it turns out to be right, call it a feather in AICN's cap. But c'mon... Does anyone really see Shia LaBeouf as the son of Harrison Ford?

Didn't think so.

Not sold on him
That actor does not excite me. He was ok in Constantine, but making him Indy Jr. is a lot to ask. What other young talent is out there? What about that "I see dead people" kid, he's a pretty good actor. Or look to televison, there's some pretty good young talent there. We'll have to see how this works out.

No. I like the Natalie Portman as his daughter idea a lot better. I like the dude, but I just can't see him as Indy Jr. No matter how hard I try.

He should just give in and do what his parents obviously wanted him to do when they named him...porn. I mean Shia LeBuff, you might as well have named the kid Buck Naked.

He annoys me. I only saw one or two episodes of that season of Greenlight, but I remember him coming off like a real prima donna.

Hmmm...
I'm thinking a daughter would be a more interesting concept. We already saw a father/son dynamic in Last Crusade.

I don't know, it could either be very good, or somewhat bad.

Indy Even Steven Jones and the Paycheck of Doom
Hmm... I kinda liked LaBeouf in "Bobby," but he's too much associated with disney tv for my taste. Just as long as they try to recapture that Raiders fire and not fall into the gimmicky, slapstick humor in Temple of Doom, they'll be fine.

Wait...isn't Indy already Henry Jones Jr.? So would this be Henry Jones III or something?

Eh...that's just me being nerdy. I do think Shia's a good actor, so he would probably be a solid pick.

Er... I don't have enough faith in Shia as an actor. Sure, he's done well in some roles, but I don't see this as his type of picture.

I also really like the idea of an father/daughter relationship.

I don't want an Indiana Jones Jr. at all, and I'm a Shia LaBeouf fan, Indiana Jr. isn't need plain and simple.

actually in his serious roles he is pretty impressive, greatest game ever played anyone? I think we if he is cast as this role, it would be a good performance, but I say we wait for disturbia and transformers before I fully support what I just said.
