Dakota Fanning and Elle Fanning Teaming Up for My Sister's Keeper
Veteran thesp adolescents to co-star with Cameron Diaz in adaptation.

They aren't even in high school yet, but the Fanning sisters are already grizzled Hollywood veterans -- and now they're teaming up onscreen for the first time.

Variety reports that New Line and Nick Cassavetes are bringing Jodi Picoult's novel My Sister's Keeper to theaters, and they've tabbed Dakota and Elle Fanning to star with Cameron Diaz. From the article:

Elle Fanning will play a young girl who sues for emancipation from her parents. Mom and Dad conceived her as a genetic match with the hope she could prolong her cancer-ridden sister's life.

Jeremy Leven wrote the script, and Mark Johnson will produce. Both teamed with Cassavetes and New Line on "The Notebook."

As the article points out, the Fannings both appeared in I Am Sam, but didn't share any screen time. Variety also notes that Dakota and Elle are younger than their characters in the book, but "a decision was made to cast them younger because it was age-appropriate for Diaz."
