Want the Scoop on the "Indiana Jones 4" Villain?
by Scott Weinberg | May 25, 2007

I'll save the news for those who choose to "click in" to this news item, because I don't want to spoil anything. But it looks like we're getting some word on who'll be playing the "Indiana Jones 4" villain.

You know how Cate Blanchett's been attached to the project for a little while now? Well, one source is reporting that the lovely blonde actress will actually be playing ... a bad guy! (Er, bad girl!) Apparently she'll be a villain in league with some nasty Russians.

She looks pretty mean right there!

OK, that's about all I want to know about this movie, spoiler-wise. I don't want to know the whole story even before the movie begins production! IESB.net has a quick run-down on all the individual "Indy 4" tidbits that we've learned thus far, so feel free to check that out if you like.

I'm actually excited about this news; much better than the Area 51 stuff we recieved earlier.

I can totally see Cate as a villain.

Awsome casting choice if it's true. Those IESB tidbits are giving me hope.

If anything, It'll be fun to see Spielberg return to adventure filmmaking. He can do these types of movies like virtually no other director.

I've read recently, maybe it is in the article above, that the artifact is in fact the 13 crystal skulls of South America. There will be some Area 51 stuff in the beginning I've heard, though it sounds perfectly fun. It has more to do with the people that hire Indy.

Way back when they announced that Nazi's would not be the bad guys, I figured Indy would be going after either the Russians or the Chinese. Yeah, there are no better bad guys then the Nazi's, but Indy IS 20 years older now, and since the last movie took place in 1938, that puts him about 13 years after the Nazi surrender. It would be kind of weird to see him fighting the Nazis at that point.

The Russians are probably about as close as you can get considering the time period, but yeah, they're no Nazis.

I suspected that Blanchett would be evil in this film. She's really talented, so it'll be interesting to see how her performance will turn out.
