"Indy 4" Bits: The Casting Call, New Haven and John Hurt
by Scott Weinberg | June 12, 2007
Discuss Article
Just a little update on what's going on with "Indiana Jones 4" up in New Haven. Plus a juicy little tidbit on who John Hurt might be playing...

Yesterday was the first day of the New Haven casting call for "Indiana Jones 4," and reports indicate that potential extras were asked "if they could play football, if they owned a dog, and if they would be willing to get a 1950s-style haircut." Shooting around Yale University will begin on June 28 and continue until July 7.

In related news, it looks like the town of Deming, New Mexico will be playing the role of "Morocco" in the fourth Indy flick.

Last but not least -- and this might be a little spoiler-y -- early buzz indicates that new cast addition John Hurt may be playing ... Albert Einstein? Interesting.

This is gonna be so cool, like what happened in Last Crusade where Indy meets Hitler.

So the plot will probably have something to do with a nuclear bomb.

hmmmm maybe, but was Einstein ever really involved with the Manhatten Project? I know it's his theory, but I thought people like Oppenheimer and Bors were much more involved by the time they actually got around to building one.

I read somewhere someone mentioning russians I guess itīs not completely off road, but I wont disclose anything yet since itīs only an assumption that he may be playing Eistein. But I like the idea for an Eistein cameo and heīs not only known for his nuclear theory, it could be anything...Iīll keep my options open. I think one of the ideas for Last Crusades hitler cameo was that the audiences could wish Indy could kill him because he was standing in front of him right before WWII...the idea just teases us, maybe itīs somewhat similar situation with Eisteins nuclear theory...I dunno, I gotta stop wondering about it! :-D

Go John!
Although I'm sick of films trying to work historical figures into the script (often for what they think are tongue-in-cheek purposes), John Hurt is a frickin' amazing actor and can do no wrong in my book. Go Elephant Man!

Iīm up there with you on John Hurt, heīs a great choice for this movie, although about that historical...Indy is an archeologists so itīs an package deal whatever the story may be also I trust Spielberg, even when he makes sci-fi his movies stay on earth so there are parts where he wants to make it believable and suppose 4th should be close to Raiders.

I agree with what you're saying here, I just hope that given Americas need for approval, they dont work an Iraq storyline in to the film....
