This week kicks off with a blast of adventure, as Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull swings onto DVD and Blu-ray! After grossing over $738 million worldwide, Indy's latest outing is poised for a huge home video release --- and Paramount Home Video has loaded the title with tons of fan-centric goodies.
The two-disc DVD release includes hours of extras that take you behind the scenes as Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) and his newfound son, Mutt (Shia LaBeouf) travel the world circa 1950 in search of mysterious crystal skulls, fighting evil Russian scientist Irina Spalko (Cate Blanchett) and a former confidante (Ray Winstone) along the way with the help of a few old friends (John Hurt and Karen Allen).
Featurettes offer glimpses during filming as well as the cast and crew's pre-production planning, plus in-depth looks at the props, make-up, sets and effects that helped create scenes ranging from the Area 51 warehouse to the Peruvian Temple of Akator. As the first Indiana Jones film released on Blu-ray, the title offers the same featurettes in HD, plus the ability to utilize interactive historical timelines.
You'll also get access to a host of on-set photos and production stills, portraits, galleries of Stan Winston Studios' creatures and pre-production art. Exclusive to Rotten Tomatoes, we've got a mini-gallery of pre-visualization concept art that offers a breathtaking look at how the filmmakers went from page to screen. jokerboy1991 writes: on Oct 13 2008 06:44 PM I will be actually getting Indy this week, yep it was a big disappointment but it is still part of the series and enjoyable, I hope I have better thoughts of it this time around. I will be renting Mongol tomorrow. Thats cool about Quantum, which will definitely be awesome. (Reply to this) |

digitalrelic writes: on Oct 13 2008 07:05 PM I'm also excited for Indy 4. Probably the worst in the series, but not nearly as blatantly terrible as everyone makes it out to be. 7/10. (Reply to this) |

jokerboy1991 writes: on Oct 13 2008 07:29 PM In reply to this comment (#2076118) Yeah I would give it a 7/10, the worst by far in the series though. I just hope my thoughts on it get better, and hopefully look at it on its own merit some day because lots of my disappointment came from the wait and how awesome the other movies are. He's a Cockapoopoo writes: on Oct 13 2008 07:47 PM It was good for a big budget disney channel movie. Otherwise a disgrace. Anyone that says otherwise is a disgrace. Anyone who doesn't say this movie is a disgrace and that everyone who says otherwise is a disgrace, is a disgrace. (Reply to this) |

AnthonyDidge writes: on Oct 13 2008 07:49 PM I really enjoyed it I'd definitely go along with a 7 or maybe even an 8. So yeah, I'll be picking that up. Also glad I'll finally be able to see Mongol. There's a good chance I'll end up picking up the Drive-In collection. Those are always good for a random movie nite with friends. Anyone seen any of the Ghost House Underground movies at all, particularly Dance of the Dead and Brotherhood of Blood? And lest we forget, Casino on Blu-Ray!!! (Reply to this) |

Random_Jake writes: on Oct 13 2008 08:30 PM Dude, Temple of Doom was the worst. Crystal Skull was obviously different but it was still a decent flick. I'd agree with a 7 but the worst of the series? No......... (Reply to this) |

Jen Yamato writes: on Oct 13 2008 09:03 PM Where to start...I was pretty disappointed by Indy 4 but it's got a great DVD/Blu-ray package. Did you guys check out our concept art? Pretty cool. It's nice to see people have interest in Mongol, considering it's a pan-Asian foreign film about Genghis Khan. War, Inc. was interesting, to say the least...even if I agree with the Tomatometer. Worth a look. And how juiced am I to see that someone wants to check out the Drive-In collection? Makes all of that writing worthwhile, tomwaitsjr. I love those Crown International B-movies. Kokushi writes: on Oct 13 2008 09:33 PM Jen, great article. Indi 4 good but a dissapoinment: nuke frige, tarzan scene, ruber snake, waterfall, split legs in the jungle, i dont mind CGI but when it became unreal and distracting for the movie thats when the problem started for me. Cant wait to see mongol, a fan a asian history and asian movies in general. (Reply to this) |

ARTaylor writes: on Oct 13 2008 10:48 PM Skipping Indy 4. To me, Crystal Skull is to Indy as Enterprise was to Star Trek. There was some elements from the stuff I liked but it wasn't done right and was mostly unnecessary. I don't need to spend twenty bucks to hear George and Steven talk about how wonderful they are, how wonderful the movie is, and how wonderful it was to have everyone back. I'll save my money for a movie I really enjoyed, like Incredible Hulk and Dark Knight. (Reply to this) |

Gimy writes: on Oct 14 2008 05:36 AM stop sugarcoating it, indy 4 was crap. the "haha, its indy...he's back!" scenes were WAY too little and the "oh my god, this sucks...ooooh christ it's actually getting worse" scenes just kept going and going and going. it was like watching jerry rice...when he was the 12th string wide receiver in his last years. it was a 5 out of 10, and thats giving it a plus 3 simply for being indy. it was Sith...kind of bad. buy the dvd and you're just encouraging more garbage to be released by lucas. jaquen writes: on Oct 14 2008 07:26 AM Oh look, it's the usual rapid "fans" telling me how much I should enjoy a film. Shocking. Meanwhile I'll happily live in my apparent delusion that I did indeed enjoy Indy 4 for exactly what it was, a good Sunday evening romp at the theater; it was easily far more enjoyable for me than the ill conceived "Temple of Doom". This movie just put a damn smile on my face, and that's enough for me. I look forward to adding this to my collection. (Reply to this) |

jokerboy1991 writes: on Oct 14 2008 09:13 AM Damn why so many Temple haters, that was really good. Atleast it didn't have cgi gophers, cgi killer ants, tarzan, some clunky dialogue, and a nuked fridge. Temple actually had amazing sequences and just not a few good ones like Indy 4. (Reply to this) |

vitajex writes: on Oct 14 2008 10:41 AM What? No information on 'The Hobbit' DVD release? Come on, it's going to be in theaters in only 3 years! I wanna know how many behind-the-scenes featurettes I can look forward to ignoring! (Reply to this) |

collex writes: on Oct 14 2008 11:12 AM Damn why so many Crystal Skull haters, that was really good. It's Indy for Christ Sake. Even a ****ty Indy movie is a better movie that most crap that comes out every weekend. Seriously, I don't think this movie could have been abysmal to the point I would hate it. I've waited too long and believe too much in Indy for this. I gonna buy it tomorrow. But it's your opinion and I respect it. Really wanna see Mongol. But probably not this weekend. (Reply to this) |

Random_Jake writes: on Oct 14 2008 11:36 AM Temple of Doom was the worst. Indy 4 was good except for Shia's goofy tree swinging and indulgence into humor only someone under the age of ten would find funny. Temple of Doom wasn't bad but it wasn't better than Crystal Skull........ (Reply to this) |

vitajex writes: on Oct 14 2008 12:00 PM You guys are all wrong! The worst Indy movie was: "Indiana Jones and the Mortgage Application of Death". Though I will admit it got pretty intense when the Nazi loan officer asked Indy if he had any earnest money or subordinate financing. (Reply to this) |

JUDGE DREDD writes: on Oct 14 2008 01:31 PM Firstly, I liked the new Indy. Sure it could of been better. But what i hate the most about Indy 4, is how the haters TELL me i'm wrong for liking it. And that I'm not a true Indy fan for liking it. Personally, I can look past the diffrences in time and film making, and accept that Indy is playing his age more. This is more believable, if he was his usual self it would have been amiss. I like how the story has progressed through the years, at times in Indy-4, he reminded me of Henry SR. And liked the way he was becoming more like him. I hope there IS an Indy 5. And hope they take the character more in that direction. Sure some of the SFX were ropey, and some stunts. But complaining about the new technology is pointless. Have they forgotten the plasticine puppets from the mine cart in TOD? The heavy bluescreen lines around airplane and Zeppelin in Last crusade? A thousand year old knight living in a cave guarding a Jesus's favorite cup? A dripping flame from a match in a tunnel full of petrol under venice? Face melting angels in a god box? Yet people scream "Hey the gophers look fake! Too many waterfalls! That kids swinging with... monkeys! Theyre playing Elvis music in the 50s! Hahaaha while i particularly dont care much for these scenes, they are undeniably Indy. Just more in line with the sequels, Raiders is my favorite and is completely believable right up till the Ark opening. But I like it still, because i am a true Indy fan. (Reply to this) |
