Vocalist-guitarist Ian MacKaye, who also fronted the seminal punk band Minor Threat, is an ideological hero to many--his anti-major label stance and belief in a DIY, independent music scene continues to be an inspiration. Since their formation in 1987, Fugazi's remarkable "career" has been tracked on film by photographer-turned-filmmaker Jem Cohen, himself part of the local punk scene.
