New Iron Man Photo Online!
And a new film! Sort of.

The Dark Knight has been stealing all the superhero buzz lately, but Jon Favreau's Iron Man is still one of the most hotly anticipated movies of 2008 -- and look, here's another shot of Robert Downey Jr. in action to remind us why!

Okay, okay, it's just one picture. And it isn't like Downey's flying around in the suit, vaporizing bad guys with his lasers of justice or anything. But it does give you another small glimpse of what we can expect from Downey, Terrence Howard, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Jeff Bridges when Iron Man makes its debut on May 2, and really, what else do you have going on right now? Counting down the days until First Sunday comes out?

So go on, follow the link below to check out the new Iron Man still -- and as a bonus, watch an amazing short fan film that'll make you wish there really was an Iron Man TV show. C'mon, Shellhead!

This is probably going to be an unpopular sentiment here, but I really thought the Iron Man fan film was just o.k.

I'm really tired of choral music in fan films...there are literally hundreds of little-known film scores one could borrow music from, which could easily fit in with whatever story you're trying to tell. Choral music is overdone. With the exception of the Black Widow, I didn't "buy" any of the actors as the characters they were portraying, even though they were only quick glimpses. It takes more than just putting on an eyepatch to be Nick Fury or a mask to be Ms. Marvel--there's a type of ATTITUDE or swagger you have to possess, if you're playing characters like these, and I just didn't "feel" it. I know the guy didn't have a budget, but there was too much "blurry vision" which only drew attention to that fact. He even borrows his dedication to the Iron Man character from Collora's "World's Finest". I know folks are trying to protect themselves, but a disclaimer at the end of a FAN FILM really shouldn't be necessary. I admire the director's love and dedication to the Iron Man character, but I've seen tons of fan films...some with obviously lesser budgets...that were better.

Anyway, that's just my opinion.

Honestly, I've got to go with thereign on this one.

Kudos to those folks for doing it, but have they ever seen a trailer? Have they ever seen a TV show intro? It was hokey and cheesy and that choral music has become incredibly cliche for fan work. If that was a real show I wouldn't give it the time of day. Not having a budget is a gateway to shift blame instead of stepping up to say it's just not very good - especially with the technology out there for the masses now-a-days, the budget needed to make something great is diminishing.

..The Robert Downey Jr. picture is pretty nice though.

Jeff Bridges as Obadiah Stain is the villain I think.

I'm with you TheReign. That fan film was really unimpressive, none of the characters looked or felt like the real deal, and I couldn't tell waht was going on the entire time. And what's with the space ships? I'm not a big Iron Man fan (ok, that's a bit of an understatement), but the character does deserve better treatment than this.

And why did Tony Stark look like Dante from Clerks?

"Counting down the days until First Sunday comes out?"

Actually.. I am.

I think First Sunday looks pretty good and I have been absolutely in love with Katt Williams lately. He's easily one of my favorite comedians since Dave left the scene.

Honestly. How can you even compare Williams to Chappelle?

I'll admit that I used to think Katt Williams was ok. But these days I simply don't have the tolerance or, for that matter, the self-loathe. Dude says n***a way, way too much. That, for me, sucks the life out of his jokes.

And ZEZEtheX, I second your question. How the hell can Williams be compared to Chappelle?! That's like comparing Kevin James stand-up to George Carlin stand-up.

I still like Katt though,.. when he guest stars on syndicated re-runs of My Wife and Kids.

This was the first still I saw, it was on MTV.com months ago. Rotten Tomatoes update your stuff, only ever seen Kat Williams on the really bad Friday movie (don't like christmas themes) but from what I hear he's good. This weekend will be catching No country or Juno. Comparing Iron Man to batman is hard b/c Batman is really popular not just amongst comic book nerds like myself, and Batmas ia much darker tale with a darker villian this time around, whereas Downey is funny and Stark is cool. Should be a good mix between movies though

Regarding the IRON MAN FAN FILM : Nice imagination, nice overall. Really can't compare to a million dollar production of course.

I'ts interesting to see the imagination and creativity independent film makers have. In some ways, their films boast a higher level of creativity and imagination that I wish we would see in the big budget productions.....On the other hand, while the big budget productions would no doubt produce better sfx, the cost of fully realizing some of the stuff in the fan films would probably make studios cringe.

Probably why so many fantasy and comicbook films always feel like their holding back or only willing to go so far.

I guess it's all about finding the right talent for these films and then striking a balance that the studios are comfortable with.
