Wall Street Spills Beans On Upcoming Marvel Projects
The House That Stan Built sending scads of costumed heroes your way.

Last December, Stan Lee promised Collider that every "important Marvel character" would soon be getting its own film. Yesterday, the publisher's fourth-quarter 2007 earnings report made it clear that Lee wasn't kidding.

The report -- again, helpfully picked up by Collider -- contains a bunch of boring numbers and terms like "total net sales" and "total operating income" -- but it also spills a few interesting details about what Marvel's got cooking on its front burner for stuff like movies, animated projects, and Broadway musicals. Spider-Man the musical. Maybe Venom will be in it and live longer in that version ;)

I still think Thor will be the silliest comic book movie yet.

Spiderman the musical?

I think the Shaun of the Dead director is doing Ant-Man, which will give the production the right amount of humor and seriousness. Whether it will appeal to a mass audience or potentially only be a cult classic (assuming its good) is up for speculation.

It was supposed to say:
"Spider-Man the Musical. *pinch* Spider-Man the Musical. *slap* Spider-Man the Musical. *stab with pen* Nope, I'm not having a nightmare... "

But I guess it didn't like the left and right brackets I used the first time... :-(

I'm likin' the Captain America idea...

Even though America right now is in the pinnacle of bull**** appearance, we could still use a character who represents the best of this country. The best in which doesn't exist, anymore.

I wouldn't consider Ant-Man to be an "important" Marvel character.

And my respect for Bono and the Edge has gone wwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaayy down after reading that they're doing the music for Spider-Man: The Musical...which, in a PROPER alternate reality, doesn't even have the possibility of existing!

What. The. Fu.ck.

"Wolverine and the X-Men"

We've already had three feature films that should have been titled that.

Er... wait. I thought Marvel had Matthew Vaughn lined up to direct "Thor". Is that still on or is he out?

"Writer/Director engaged" means that the person who's writing the screenplay and the person who's behind the camera have set a date and are actively making wedding plans. Soon they will be producing little ant-babies.

(Actually I believe it means that Marvel has hired someone to write and someone to direct, but they haven't gotten any farther than that.)

*sigh*

Ant-man... well, he does have a tragic sense about him, but I've only really found out more about him from the recent readings of civil war... he never really was a serious character, IMHO. But of course, if they want to do the Avengers thing, and if they're going about the whole "pre-story in individual's movie and a seperate amalgamation in the Avengers movie" thing, then I guess it might just be one-off!

Spider-Man the musical...? huh? I'll bet Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst were pushing for it... they seemed to almost be on a musical level in Spider-Man3 anyway! :-s But, God... I hope that flops in the theaters!

Thor, would certainly take a lot of doing, now, wouldn't it?! Man, I'd be really interested to be a fly on the wall when the director, producer and the writer are discussing the scripts! :-)
