Consensus: Fans can expect a good laugh as the cast from Smith's previous films reunite for Jay and Silent Bob's last bow. The loose plotting and crude language may be too much for others though.

Writer-director Kevin Smith's fifth and final installment of his New Jersey Chronicles (which began in 1994 with the breakout, low-budget comedy CLERKS) is a chance for scene-stealing, foulmouthed stoner Jay (Jason Mewes) and his taciturn sidekick/"hetero life mate" Silent Bob (Smith) to carry their own movie. When comic store mogul Brodie (Jason Lee, reprising his MALLRATS role) informs Jay and Silent Bob that a movie featuring their comic book alter egos, Bluntman and Chronic, is about to be made, the duo demands a cut from the comic's creator, Holden (Ben Affleck, in his CHASING AMY role). Holden explains that his ex-partner, Banky (Lee again) has sold them out, and shows them some angry Internet posts from Bluntman and Chronic fans. Fearing for their reputations, Jay and Silent Bob embark on a cross-country odyssey to Hollywood to stop the film. En route, they run afoul of a Charlie's Angels-type jewelry thief ring--one of whom, Justice (Shannon Elizabeth) takes a liking to Jay--an orangutan, a Federal Wildlife Marshall (Will Ferrell), and Miramax studio security. Smith's fond farewell to his intertwined Jersey characters is a lovingly crude, broad comedy rife with celebrity cameos, slapstick movie spoofs, and clever jabs at Hollywood. [More]

Reviews for Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back
If not a masterpiece of thespianism, it's at least a fun ride through Smith's quirky mind and the lives of his unique characters.
At some point, irreverence and wit notwithstanding, enough is enough.
Mewes is a strangely compelling lead, and that in itself is good reason enough to see the film. That is, if the fact that this is the funniest movie of the year hasn't convinced you yet!
A self-indulgent trip for Smith; pity, there's a fun movie in there dying to come out.
...In the end you just really feel sorry for Mark Hamill, I mean really can't he get better parts than in unfunny comedies?
...the most dispiriting leap backward into irrelevance by a filmmaker since Francis Ford Coppola directed Jack.
Theater projectionists could do moviegoers an immense favor by putting a splice in place of the second act, perhaps the worst in film history.
Anyone eager to pick up the picket signs should check out the context of the material first; Smith's comedy is so exaggerated and absurd only the touchiest viewers could feel wounded by it.
O cineasta parece julgar que o espectador irá rir apenas dos inúmeros palavrões ditos pelos personagem ao longo de todo o filme.
...a rather crude, strongly self-indulgent, and often repetitious comedy that, nonetheless, was largely amiable and good-natured.
Behind the guise of the Jay and Silent Bob characters and a gob of irony, this film is really quite nasty and mean spirited.
A lot of critics are bashing this film, calling it a 100 minute long in-joke. Yep. It sure is. I laughed my *** off.
I’m really on the fence with this one, but I cannot give it a solid recommendation based solely on the fact that it loses its momentum far too often than it should.
Smith has crafted a self-satisfied ode to himself, putting himself up on a trivial pedestal of his own creation that finally exposes him as the untalented peon that he is.
