Jason Reitman Knows How to Sell Movie Tickets
Director talks Jennifer's Body, unnamed writing project, hot chicks in lingerie.
Juno director Jason Reitman may have an Oscar nomination under his belt, but establishment success hasn't spoiled his taste for subversive fun.
Reitman recently spoke with MTV Movies about his next writing project, as well as giving some hints about the Diablo Cody-scripted Jennifer's Body, which he's producing. Asked about what he's writing, Reitman did the screenwriter shuffle, admitting only the following:
Yeah, I'm writing something. I'm going to direct it at the end of the year. And no, I haven't told anyone what it is yet....It's a comedy and a drama [book adaptation]. Think 'Thank You for Smoking,' but instead of political, it's corporate.
(And yes, Reitman says, "Of course, there will always be room for J.K. Simmons.")
Moving on to Jennifer's Body, Reitman told MTV that the production begins shooting in three weeks -- and when asked to describe the "scene he can't wait to see on the big screen," he locked up the top box office spot for the film's opening weekend:
Well, we've got Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried getting into a fight in their underwear. That'll be fun.

on Mar 26 2008 06:34 AM 'hate to so mindlessly agree, but The man DOES know how to sell tickets... This also proves my theory that whenever hot women stay over at one another's houses, they strip and fight with pillows. It's SCIENTIFIC FACT! On the less lecherous side, I did enjoy 'Thank You' so I may see this for a few reasons. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Mar 26 2008 07:57 AM HOW? I dont think THANK YOU FOR SMOKING did big. Juno was a big hit but thats just one movie. THANK YOU FOR SMOKING was better then JUNO. I bet JENIFER'S BODY doesnt make half as much JUNO has made. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Mar 26 2008 09:40 AM I don't know Joker, I can see the commercials now: "From the makers of JUNO, comes Jennifer's Body." I wouldn't bet against a $25 million opening weekend and a final $100 mill run. Seriously, women are usually underserved in hollywood and this flick should be very profitable as long as the budget stays under $30 million. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Mar 26 2008 11:54 AM In reply to this comment (#1653834) Yeah but from the movie description it sounds like an R, if so theres no way it would make half as much. If PG-13, I still dont think it would be a big hit. Plus I thought JUNO had a good amount of star power (maybe not A-Listers), but generally known actors, and JENIFERS BODY has MEGAN FOX who is hot, but is kinda a crappy actress- shes also not very well known. I didnt think TRANSFORMERS was great, it was a regular B action flick with a bunch of sparkles. I still think JUNO was really good, not great. I just think JENIFER'S BODY will atract as big of an audience as JUNO did, because there way 2 different movies from the sound of it. I still think JENIFER'S BODY will be good though. on Mar 26 2008 12:31 PM In reply to this comment (#1653762) For a lot of people Juno was their favourite movie of the year. How many would say that about Thank You For Not Smoking the year it came out? But you know for a fact that Thank You For Not Smoking was a better movie. Hmm...interesting. No, Juno was not my favourite movie this year, although it probably would have made my top 10. Perhaps not my top 5, though. I didn't place Thank You For Not Smoking in my top 10 the year it came out. But it was OK. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 26 2008 05:46 PM To let you know, a LOT of people know Megan Fox because of Transformers. In my English class someone wrote a whole page about how she is the reason that movie was great. Plus she is (in a more tasteful sense) a very attractive young actress. Indeed. Yes. (Reply to this) |

on Mar 26 2008 06:03 PM In reply to this comment (#1654013) Maybe it wasn't your favorite movie cause you didn't understand it. I mean, you obviously ****ed up the title pretty bad. Not only once but 3 times. Good job! (Reply to this) |
