RT on DVD: A Second Watchmen Movie and News of a Rambo Director's Cut
Should you buy Rambo this week or wait for Sly's cut?

Zack Snyder announces a second Watchmen movie (kinda) and Sly Stallone announces his director's cut of Rambo -- so should you pick up the theatrical cut on DVD this week? Find out more inside.

Who Watches the Watchmen Spin-off DVD?

Zack Snyder will direct a Watchmen spinoff DVD film based on the meta-story Tales of the Black Freighter, which will hit shelves the week after the comic adaptation is released in theaters next March. The story within a story, which appears in the original Watchmen comics, was originally planned as a 300-esque live-action movie, but will be shot as a more cost-effective animated film. According to the New York Times, the DVD, set for stores five days after Watchmen hits theaters, will also feature a character-focused "documentary-style film" -- and even Snyder knows the movie, spinoff, and resulting multiple releases means big bucks ("The überfans of this property are going to go crazy for that").

Futurama: The Beast With a Billion Backs

Special features and artwork have been released for the second Futurama DVD movie, The Beast with a Billion Backs. The feature length movie picks up after the events of Bender's Big Score, when an interplanetary alien declares Fry the new Pope and seeks Leela for his bride. Will intergalactic snu-snu ensue? Britney Murphy, David Cross, and Stephen Hawking provide guest vocals; expect TONS of great bonus features like commentary tracks, "A Brief History of Deathball," and a sneak peek at the next Futurama film, Bender's Game.

The name is Rambo. John Rambo.

Sylvester Stallone's Rambo-- the fourth onscreen bloodbath starring his iconic titular character -- is out on DVD this week. But before you count your pennies and head to the video store, be warned; he's already planning a director's cut. He said as much to Jay Leno, so it must be true. We say give Rambo a rental, but wait to buy Sly's cut (entitled John Rambo) from which all the proceeds might go to the people of Burma.

I'm absolutely excited for this spin-off DVD, especially now that they're doing it as an animated feature. American animation needs this kind of shake up to really get it moving in the direction it needs to.

More RAMBO= More Fun!

Excellent film, but coulda done with a wee bit more Rambo Action. More stealthy kills etc... Also, I thought some of the action looked like it had been cropped short slightly in places, the guts in the truck etc seemed longer in the trailers. Will be waiting for this D cut.

As for futurama, the last film sucked and was boring.

Watchmen, could be good, could be great, who knows till we seen the first one?

I CAN'T WAIT for the new Futurama DVD! Ever since the release of the hilarious "Bender's Big Score", I've been dying for it! However, as far as extras go, I certainly hope they're better than the misguided 30 minute Hypnotoad episode, or the boring-as-all-getout physics lesson!

Looking forward to all the Watchmen hullabaloo to come in '09, couldn't care less about a Rambo director's cut though, they'd have to do a lot of cutting to make that into a good movie.

for a second there, i thought an actual live-action Watchmen sequel was going to be announced, which would be complete blasphemy since the Watchmen story should remain a standalone story and not bastardized by pumping out sequel after sequel. i think anyone who has been paying attention to the Watchmen movie already knew an animated Tales of the Black Freighter was in the works and would most likely make it to DVD around the release of the film a la The Animatrix and Batman: Gotham Knight.

there is no dialogue whatsoever, unless you count those elongated, unintelligible words burried within the blood-curdling screams. oh, and stallone grunts a lot, too, but that's really it.

Argento's "Phenomena" is unwatchable, mainly due to the AWFUL soundtrack featuring the worst death metal the 80s has to offer. It's so grating, I shoved a pencil in my year to not have to hear it anymore... plus, now I can taste emotions!

Does anyone know when the Rambo Director's Cut is coming out?

I saw the DVD of Rambo. The deleted scenes were all awful and boring. No action. The film lasted 80minutes before the credits.

I was amazed at how gory it was. Closest thing I can think of to Rambo's gore is the beginning of Saving Private Ryan.

Definately has more head explosions-decapitations than any other film.
