Consensus: The dinos are as cool as ever, but there's too much of a "been there, done that" feel.

Runtime: 1 hr 33 mins

Genre: Action/Adventure

But he needs funding for his research, so when a wealthy thrill-seeking couple (William H. Macy and Téa Leoni) come calling, Grant and his protégée, Billy (Alessandro Nivola), agree to take them on a sightseeing flight. By the time Grant finds out what their true purpose is--to land on the island and search for their missing son--all of their lives are in peril. And Grant's newfound theory about Raptor intelligence will have its deadly proof. Joe Johnston was the right director to take over Steven Spielberg's JURASSIC PARK series. He's experienced with special effects, having worked on the STAR WARS films, while his OCTOBER SKY demonstrates his skill at telling an emotionally involving tale. In JURASSIC PARK 3, with the help of a top-notch technical team and a talented cast (who began filming before the script was finished, improvising much of their dialogue), and a new dinosaur, Spinosaurus, that makes even T-Rex nervous, Johnston has fashioned a rousing adventure with state-of-the-art visuals. Clocking in at a tense 92 minutes, it's the fastest-moving, most action-packed film of the series. [More]

Much like an ice cream cone, this one is fairly fun while it lasts and entirely forgettable after the fact.

A pretty successful roller-coaster ride most of the way.

Too bad the script doesn't extend the same courtesy to the actors, who are saddled with dialogue neither man nor beast could respond to.

I'm grateful for movies that truly want to entertain, rather than drown the audience with special effects and marketing gimmicks.

The rather startling way in which the film deflates is enough to ensure that for most viewers, this third trip will be the least charming.

A film that is not as good a ride as the first, but a damn sight better than the second.

The real stars of the sequel are the dinosaurs...But look out for the flying Pteranodons, which we see flying off into the sunset as a precursor to yet another unnecessary sequel.

If you’re looking for new dinosaur thrills, Jurassic Park III provides a few, by expertly combining dinosaur puppets with CGI to create a believable Disneyland-like ride.
