WB makes 'Date' with 'Hill' duo

Phillips to produce Freedland-Cohen comedy

Warner Bros. has acquired "Due Date," a comic pitch by Alan Freedland and Alan Cohen, the writer-producers of Fox's "King of the Hill."

Todd Phillips will produce through his WB-based Green Hat Films shingle.

Story is about a hard-charging business exec from L.A. whose wife is about to have their first child. The dad-to-be gets stuck in a snowstorm and must hitch a ride with a laid-back college kid to make it to the birth on time.

Green Hat's Scott Budnick will be exec producer.

Freedland and Cohen, who created the animated Robert Evans series "Kid Notorious" for Comedy Central, most recently scripted "Nutjobs," a Disney comedy that has Adam Shankman attached to direct. The Endeavor-repped scribes also completed a rewrite of "Flight Risk" for Disney.
