In this film, his third musical, Cukor made skillful use of color and camera movement to illustrate one of his favorite themes: the magic of show business. Billionaire industrialist Jean-Marc Clement (Yves Montand) discovers that an off-Broadway show is satirizing him is in preproduction. Jean-Marc's feelings toward the show change when he meets one of its cast members, Amanda (Marilyn Monroe); wanting to get close to the attractive young woman and since the show has no one to play his character, he manages to persuade the unsuspecting producer that he is just right for the part. Hiring Bing Crosby, Gene Kelly, and Milton Berle (playing themselves) to teach him the tricks of show business, Jean-Marc also learns a thing or two about falling in love from the luscious Amanda. Reviews for Let's Make Love
Cukor ... directs with all the panache of an unwanted contractual obligation. Indeed, Marilyn disliked the script but accepted Let's Make Love to fulfill her Fox contract.
Apesar do excesso de números musicais, o filme é leve e divertido, trazendo Marilyn Monroe em uma de suas performances mais sedutoras (em seu penúltimo papel no Cinema).
If you can live with the plot making absolutely no sense, then you should be able to handle this uneven attempt at being a screwball comedy.
Marilyn's Heart Belongs to Daddy number (and her practice leotard) are worth the price of the video.
Let’s Make Love doesn’t come close to Marilyn Monroe’s best moments, but those who like corny old romances could certainly do worse.
