The cast was led by Dr. Benjamin Franklin "Hawkeye" Pierce (Alan Alda) and Dr. "Trapper" John McIntyre (Wayne Rogers), free-spirited doctors whose humor and pranks helped them face the horrors of war but also got them into trouble with their superiors.
