I imagine if Max Payne was any good at all, or at least not as completely terrible as the reviews make it sound, it would have come in much stronger, like over 30 million sort of strong. Also I can't be the only one that thinks those stupid flying dark angel things ruin the atmosphere what was otherwise a pretty great trailer, can I? (Reply to this) |

I thought W was pretty good but very sloppy and I really wished they didn't rush it because it could have been great, I bet there will be a Director's Cut because in ads for it I see clips of BUSH in the National Guard which were scenes I really wanted too see and would have filled in one of the many gaps that made it feel choppy. Man I hate FOX, another awesome video game ruined I hear, well I will wait to rent it. Also maybe I am wrong but am I the only one that thinks that AUSTRALIA might tank?!? I mean it will be playing towards the TITANIC tween girls but they will be too busy blushing over TWILIGHT (yuk) and it is definitely not a guy movie, and I personally cant tell whether it looks great or really soapy, I will probably see it though because I like Hugh Jackman. I hope THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD tanks, I love the original and it looks like they made it into a crappy action movie with Keanu "WHOH" Reeves, maybe too harsh, I like Reeves but the movie looks like crap. I will end up renting The Express which I hear is good and Sex Drive which I hear is funny but to me it looks like a rental. I bet MAX PAYNE dives huge next week while all the guys will be seeing going to see SAW V because they think it is entertaining to see people tortured for 2 hours... Brolin is great, most of the cast is great especially Richard Dreyfuss, but I wasn't impressed by Thandie Newton. The movies problems suffer from pacing problems, it is just really chop, it feels like a rough cut taped together at times. And I'm continuing an argument from the Weekly Ketchup, and if I hear someone dosen't like Indy 4, and tells me in person, I'm the same as you with BR: TFC. And apparently there's a chunk of people I'd get into fights with. Hmmmm... maybe I'll just lay off. I'd see "The Day the Earth Stood Still" remake. I agree with ledawg about BR, not a bad movie just a weak story that doesnt develop much(and the final cut is the one I seen). The chiarman of Fox schould be fired for giving the studio there worst year ever. Thier Summer lineup was a bust, Aulstralia looks like crap, DTESS looks like an average run of the mill alien movie and Wolverine is gonna be thier only good film next year. I'll submit, there is a difference between films and movies. Blade Runner, for instance, is a film. Transformers, which you've expressed a great deal of love for on the other thread, is a movie. Add your Indy 4 to the latter. I'll bet you an arm, a leg, and a large bucket of popcorn that by the time you're an adult, both these favorites of yours will have depreciated significantly in value -like is the fate of all barely passable popcorn fare- and will have moved down in the ranks of noteworthy cinema. The only version of Blade Runner that I have ever seen is the Director's Cut, and I have seen it multiple times. Every one, everywhere kept telling me that it was a masterpiece of flimmaking and that I should love it. So I watched it again...and again...and again... I think you can tell where this is going. Blade Runner, to me, was a very boring, cheesy and completely unwatchable movie. And I've seen it more than once. Seen only the Director's Cut. And I never got a taste for it. So if someone doesn't like Blade Runner, that doesn't mean thay lack any ability to recognize artistic value. It just means it wasn't up to their taste. It certainly isn't what I like. P.S. Any cut of BladeRunner is wonderful I think, if just for the artistry and Rutger Hauer's soliloquoy (sp?) Max Payne's director and studio cheesed out in groveling for a pg13 rating. I think it might have done better business going for the gusto with an R. Indy 4 was pretty weak I thought, just too far-fetched with little substance. I have a feeling the UR director's version of Max Payne will be much more enjoyable than the theatrical release. Then again, I could be wrong. Where there's mythology, there's potential. And Transformers, toys, cartoon, comic, whatever origin one cares to endorse or offer loyalties, is replete with fodder for great sci fi fare. Problem is, Michael "I'm not doing that stupid toy movie" didn't see it. All he saw was a summer blockbuster full of opportunities to blow sh.it up and make love to Megan Fox with the camera. Neither of which, in and of themselves, a problem per se. But add those ingredients into a stew of sci fi and richly developed mythology and, like magic, you got an epic Transformers franchise worthy of rivaling something as revered as Star Wars or, dare I say, Dune. But maybe I'm just crazy. It's been suggested, after all. But what is a storyteller without a little crazy in him? Michael Bay could use a little crazy, and perhaps a little less ego. I can't in good faith blame the writers. These are the same guys writing Fringe. And that show rocks so far. (Reply to this) |

Kinda sick of the tired zombie films anyway. Did you see 'Invasion'? Underrated, I think. I finally saw it on HBO a few weeks ago and was surprised since I expected to totally hate it. But it was good, and very interesting in an allegorical sense of the word. lol. I just noticed that I misspelled 'sigh' above. :-/ As for Transformers, I'm glad I'm not alone in these thoughts. It could be so much more. I won't even pay to see the sequel if 1. Wheeljack isn't it it, 2. Jazz doesn't come back, and 3. I'm not impressed by the synopsis. Ledawg, of course Megatron is coming back. If he doesn't that will be yet another bad decision made. It would be interesting though if he doesn't return for this sequel, but is instead revived at the end after a tour of great destruction (Empire Strikes Back style) and set up for supremacy in the third film. I must admit that I'm interested in at least four rumored possibilities: Prowl being brought into the story, the villain 'Fallen' making an appearance, the Constructicons being introduced, and Jetfire as an SR-71 blackbird.
