Director Robert Rodriguez was only 23 when he scored a major hit with his thriller EL MARIACHI, an unlikely candidate for a major release due to its low budget, but a breakthrough of a debut nonetheless. Going on to direct such films as the classic DESPERADO and the 2005 blockbuster SIN CITY, the director became a force to be reckoned with in Hollywood, while maintaining a rare integrity and artistic sensibility. Also a composer, Rodriguez approaches the scoring of his movies with a very personal sensibility, and this release is an attempt to fill in the gaps that the director perceives in the final soundtracks to his works. Featuring songs written by Rodriguez himself and recorded for this release, as well as outstanding songs from the films, the collection also includes some alternate versions of the songs on the soundtracks.
