Fog is scary.

The film itself won't reach theaters until November 21, but the trailer for Stephen King's The Mist has hit the Web, and Yahoo! Movies has it!

In the fall thriller, starring Thomas Jane, Marcia Gay Harden, and Andre Braugher, the residents of a Maine town battle creepy invaders -- and each other -- for survival. From the movie's synopsis:

Three-time Oscar®-nominee Frank Darabont ("The Green Mile," "The Shawshank Redemption") reunites with horror-master Stephen King to write and direct this chilling adaptation of the author's original short story. Following a violent thunderstorm, artist David Drayton and a small town community come under vicious attack from creatures prowling in a thick and unnatural mist. Local rumors point to an experiment called the 'The Arrowhead Project' conducted at a nearby top-secret military base, but questions as to the origins of the deadly vapor are secondary to the group's overall chances for survival. Retreating to a local supermarket, Drayton and the survivors must face-off against each other before taking a united stand against an enemy they cannot even see!

That is pretty typical. Christianity, unfortunately is the one religion left that it's aok to say or do anything in regards to it. Sad, really.

Yeah, the truth hurts.

Nothing that they'll show in this movie will ever be as crazy at what a person can see for their own eyes on TBN, in a movie like "Jesus Camp," at a Benny Hinn fake faith-healing show, at a Pentecostal revival, a Battle Cry convention, or on Christian websites, or what they can read in the Bible.

Or maybe you agree that a raped woman should be forced to marry her rapist, and that children should be put to death for disobeying their parents, like the Good Book says? Have you read Revelations? No, nothing crazy in there at all, just love and kindness....

Anyway, I liked this novella, and hope that the film does it some justice.

Why are people so up in arms about the Mrs. Carmody character (otherwise known as christian psycho)? Doesn't anybody think that if it works for the story who cares what kind of villain it is? There have been christian villains, atheist villains, regular villains, all kinds of villains, in film. And we've seen throughout history that there have been plenty of evil christians in the world, so what's the big deal? Stop complaining, it's a movie, nothing more. It's not as if you're going to go into The Mist and see a story about "why all christians are bastards". It's about a mist, with creatures in it, and the people on the inside must struggle with one another as well as with the outside, and one of the main antagonists happens to be a bible thumper, and people, if you don't think they're nuts, there's something wrong with you.

You know I am a Christian and I'll be the first to say that Christians are just as messed up as everyone else. In fact, that's the point. But we have been known to have affiars (even gay affairs), steal, lie, cheat, kill, and all the other cruddy stuff people do. So it doesn't bother me that they have a Christian in the movie who is less than awesome. What bothers me is, I think I've seen this movie about four times before. At least twice, with The Fog and... The Fog remake. I don't really want to see it again.

A lot of this looks exactly how I pictured things in the novella. The effects are sort of iffy but I'm excited about this movie.

Oh, and there're plenty of crazy "Christians" out there. At a theater I worked at there was once a woman who accused our cashiers of being Satanists, and the ushers of being witches and warlocks. Our theater was undergoing some renovation so parts of the building were a bit messy, and she had trouble finding the auditorium showing END OF THE SPEAR. She believed that the cashiers weren't charging enough for tickets to that particular movie because they wanted to keep money away from a Christian film. She believed that the plastic tarps and other construction was meant to make it hard to find the auditorium. She asked ushers for directions and they gave them to her, but she would have to retrace her steps which was apparently an evil thing. She went on a tirade about how this experience was going in her book. I hope she gets that book published some day. The poor woman was either mentally insane, or horribly brainwashed.

Um, yay THE MIST!

I would like to personally apologize for all the crazy "Christians" out there who give the rest of us a bad name. I'm sure you also realize that Hollywood usually makes the Christians in movies look crazy and that's what everyone assumes we are all like. It seriously irritates me.

Yeah, how dare they actually use a character from the story to advance the movie plot. And how dare a story written, what, 30 years ago, have a plot device that seems tired.

Fact is, it was sweet when it was written, and it looks sweet on the big screen.

It isn't this movie that is doing it... that is how that character was in Stephen King's story... We all take what we will away from it. I won't take away negative views of Christianity from the story... and I will be catching this on opening day! The story was scary as hell... I hope the movie will at least get close to the tension... razor web spiders... EEEEK!

um... that Christian woman was aware that End of the Spear wasn't really meant to be a "christian" movie and the main actor is openly gay Chad Allen, right? That woman sounds a bit "freakshow"... sigh!

And, no this is not "The Fog" rehashed... if yall get the cahnce, read the novella. It can be founf in "Skeleton Crew", one of his collections. It truly is a worthwhile read and one of the scarier stories I've ever had the pleasure of reading.

This movie looks incredible. I read this book a few years ago, and even now I can remember it like the back of my hand. From what I have seen, this movie looks EXACTLY how I imagined it, and with a cast like this, it has to be good. Coming from a huge SK fan (who does not like many of the screen adaptations), I have to say, this one WILL be worth the wait. And for those of you who think it looks bad because of "the unrealistic Christians," you have to read the book to find out why they are like that. I hope the movie accurately portrays why these people became what they are.

For further background on what the mist really is, read The Dark Tower: Wizard and Glass. It is the fourth book in the dark tower series, and by reading it, you can find what (in SK's mind) the mist really is, as well as a (sort of) purpose for it.

Wow, I can't beleive people are actually getting pissed off at the "psycho christian" character. See, that is the thing, it is a CHARACTER you ingnorant slugs. As for this being a remake of "the FOG"? Please, Darabant isn't one of those stupid idiotic directers that will make a movie for a certain audience. He is an artist. He makes beautiful pictures that have meaning....and most importantly...a PLOT! The fog??? should have called that movie...'the ***". Oops did I offend anyone....ahhh who cares, I am a crazy psycho christian..and I live in the fog, so you can't see me!!! hahahahahaa!

Further Comment: I am a Christian too, but when I say you have to read the book to find out why they are like that, I don't mean all Christians, I just mean the few in the group in the movie. We have to remember, when fear gets the best of us, people tend to become a bit radical. And the people in this movie defiantly show just how radical fear can make a person.

OK, back to the actual movie people. It's been a long time coming for Darabont and the cast looks great (even Thomas Jane, but especially Andre Braugher) and the scenes in the store seem to be done perfectly, unfortunately the effects seem weak, and weather they were spectacular or not I don't think it's strong marketing to give away that much in the trailer. But count me in.
