A Bunch of New Cast Members for the Next Mummy Flick
And hey, the comic relief guy is back!

I think it'll feel a little strange with Maria Bello replacing Rachel Weisz in "The Mummy 3: Curse of the Dragon," but hey at least John Hannah is returning to play Evie's goofball brother.

According to Bloody-Disgusting.com, not only will John Hannah be returning to reprise his role as silly John Carnahan, but a big handful of new faces have recently joined the production.

Joining Brendan Fraser, Maria Bello, Jet Li, Michelle Yeoh, and newcomer Luke Ford will be Alex Pettyfer, Anthony Wong, and Isabella Leong. But c'mon, really. The big news of the day is the return of John Hannah. Right?

Production on The Mummy 3 is scheduled to run until November. The flick will hit screens next summer. (When else?)

I'm fine with casting except for Maria Bello. Why replace Weiz? Her performance wasn't great, but it was still passable

why is bello replacing weiz??
that's so dumb!
i'm going to have a hard time getting past that in the movie.
I hate it when they change character actors.
Why don't they just film a quick death scene with her or write her out of the script?
ugh...

Why can't she just die from something from the years in between Mummy 2 and 3? I thought that's what they were trying to go for. Damnit.

i'm not sure hannah's return is "big" news, more like ok...cool...news. we already discussed the Weisz thing, she didn't want to be in the second one but they paid her and begged her. she thinks she's too good for the series. not opinion people, she's said it before...she wanted to do more roles and even BEFORE the second one stated her desire to move away from being in this type of movie. sucks but...i'd rather watch a flick with an actor that WANTS to be there...even though character changing in a series sucks(hopefully the Dark Knight will be a smooth transition over the Holmes ordeal) they had no choice but to hire someone else.

not sure how old the kid is now(too many rumors) but, if he's still young in this flick...i hope they send the kid to military school or...frikkin Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch...cuz he was annoying in the second one.

I smell another Scorpion King in the making; lots of potential but a major disappointment.

Am I the only one that thought the first Mummy was just decent, and the rest of them were terrible? I don't even know who John Hannah is without seeing him... I don't recognize the name. But I do love Michelle Yeoh.

Im sure Rachel Weisz realizedwhat a dumb decision it was to be in a Mummy movie with Brendan Fraiser and decided not to reprise her role... Good...

Get over the fact that sometimes negotiations between actors and studios fall through. It's their job to make money...it's not their job to maintain the continuity of a cheesy CGI-driven action/horror series. I'm sure the Oscar-nominated actress decided to pass. Good for her. 2 was dreck.

Different actors is not a big deal. What should they have done when the original Dumbledore passed away? Put his corpse up on strings?

The first Mummy was pretty fun for what it was. The second one was a lot like standing in line for the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland, and about as enjoyable.

I figured out how they are gonna play it off...

Rachel Weiz's character gets stolen by the new mummy, but they dont actaully show it, it is just talked about. This new chick comes along to help find her, in the struggle she gets her adams apple sliced, the son wakes up he slashs his own throat, now its double homicide and suicide.

I'm happy Hannah is back, that will help keep the feel of the first films intact. And yes it's set over in Asia(Jet Li is the new mummy), and the kid is older now(thank god).

They were entertaining movies, but that's it. I liked the Mummy Returns the first time I seen it. But when I watched it again, I thought it was retarded. Probably because it looks alot cooler in the theatres than on tv. I thought National Treasure was way better than both movies and i'm not a big fan of Cage. Indiana Jones will always lead the pack in this category.

I'm really irriated about this replacement of Weisz, and the fact that Stephen Sommers isn't even directing. I don't think this will keep the feel of the first, too many things have changed. Not even Arnold Vosloo is coming back.
