One of the better Muppet features in recent years, MUPPETS FROM SPACE begins with Gonzo wondering where he came from and then promptly receiving messages from his alien brethren. Though the rest of the Muppet clan believe Gonzo insane, especially after he announces his revelation on Mrs. Piggy's talk show, he arouses the interest of an idiotic government official, which leads to his imprisonment. Kermit reluctantly realizes Gonzo is in trouble and brings his fellow Muppets to try and help him escape. This one features a soundtrack made up of mostly 70s funk and introduces a new Muppet - Pepe the prawn, who gets quite a few laughs here. [More]

Reviews for Muppets from Space
Some of this is fun, some of it is extraneous, and by the end of Muppets From Space it's hard to tell the difference.
The balance of character, plot, irreverent humor and innate decency that made some of the earlier Muppet movies so welcome is lost.
If Animal, always mercifully succinct, were doing this review, he might have written: 'Snore!'
The Muppets were once devilish and sly, but this ploddingly whimsical musical caper, which uses too many '70s soul songs to signify its rainbow-demographic cred, is enough to make you want to see them get slapped around by the Teletubbies!
It's neither very witty nor a particularly original animatronic puppet adventure.
Be pleasantly surprised by a silly romp that may be just as fun for the younger set as it is for anyone with a nostalgic craving for the antics of the sophisticated puppets.
Smart and winning, this sixth Muppet feature film comes closest to recapturing the pure joy of the 1979 original!
The new Muppets movie lacks the kind of excitement the first ones generated.
