Their animosity only increases when they share Air Force One en route to a funeral. But a when the current chief executive orchestrates a scandal against Kramer, assassination attempts are aimed at BOTH men. To save their lives, the pair embark on a cross-country odyssey -- together -- to Ohio, where evidence of Kramer's innocence is located. During their trek, the hate-mates bicker (often in scatological terms) to no end. But along the way they also see the "real" America, that escaped their notice while they were in office. As a result, both men learn a little about each other, about themselves and about the country they once served. [More]

Lemmon and Garner are so good that they raise this sitcom-style picture to a much higher level than it deserves.

There are times when I laughed, but, as a whole, this particular buddy film really isn't worth the price of admission.

A shameless variation on the Grumpy Old Men films.

Relies heavily on the kick of seeing famous, aging actors muttering vulgarities, doing mildly naughty things and making feeble attempts at political satire.

Segal loses his light-comedy touch after the first hour and makes an unfunny mess of the final, 'crackpot' chase sequence.

Places its emphasis on providing laughs. Which it does, in sufficient abundance.

Tickles the funnybone enough to squeak in as a winner.

It follows the formula, and does manage to produce several humorous moments.

The characters are likeable (especially James Garner's character), the situation is fresh, and the execution is competent.

A pleasing but mediocre film, with a great cast, a great story and a misguided script.

This is not a great comedy and will be soon forgotten, but it has nice moments.

Pardons for Lemmon and Garner, but none for the filmmakers.
