Teenage Rick desperately wants to sidestep the... Mike Gordon of the band Phish makes his directorial debut with OUTSIDE OUT, a head trip of a film about one young man's journey of self-discovery. Teenage Rick desperately wants to sidestep the military school his father has planned for him by going to music school to learn the guitar. From late night television, he orders a special "Outstructional" Video from jam band guru Col. Bruce Hampton. The purpose of the video is to allow one to unlearn any formal training and forgo normal instructional conventions in order to let the true artistic self come forth. Rick then takes lessons from Hampton in the flesh, and things get REALLY weird. A genuine cult oddity, OUTSIDE OUT is sure to appeal to both Phish and aficionados of the truly bizarre. [More]
