Agreed!! But you have to look at it positively, adult movies tend to do well over time. Not to mention, it doesn't have any competition next week. People are going to see Talladega Nights, sure, but those are the demographics who have been seeing Pirates and John Tucker.

Some random thoughts...
* Perhaps if Warner Brothers tried an original concept they wouldn't be in this situation. All they've offered up is remakes (Posiedon Adventure, Superman, Bug's Life/Antz) and bad scripts (same list). I'm hoping 300 and Fountain will save them, but I have a feeling both those films will be too "cerebral" for the mass market. Of course, TMNT has the potential to rock. Unfortunately, 300 and TMNT are next year.

* I have a couple younger kids and, despite the fact that their permitted TV-watching time is limited to an hour or two a day, they've been bombarded with ads for Ant Bully for 2-3 MONTHS now. So WB took it on the chin even harder if you consider their marketing budget. Ironically, their ads actually kinda scared my 6-year-old, who closed his eyes and ears every time it came on (either that or he was just sick of it). Ya gotta admit, those ants were kinda creepy.

* The fact that 3D animated films are so relatively easy to make means the kiddies are going to get offered up a new slice if digital pie way more often than they used to. And there are going to be a lot of bad ones (coughBarnyard).

* Speaking of Barnyard, why does the main character (a cow) have a male voice...and udders? I hope they can explain that one. If they do, post it, 'cause no way am I going to plunk cash down to see it.

* I predict Vice is going to drop to #5 next week. Parents will take kids to Barnyard, young adults will go see Talledaga, and teens will go to Descent. And Pirates will still be drawing them in. There won't be enough audience left over for Vice.

Miami Vice made exactly what it deserved to make. The movie was terrible. It had a hard to follow story, many, many dull scenes, and some lackluster acting by Farrell and Foxx. It was very generic. Undercover cops trying to bust a drug ring - seen so many times. Hell, HBO's "The Wire" has done it better and more interesting.

A $25 million opening with this size budget does not bode well for this film. Good! May it continue to bomb! No more remakes!

I thought Miami Vice was allright, it wasn't as good as Collateral, Heat, or Manhunter though. Clerks 2 is definitely better and I wish that more people would go see it. I also saw Lady in the Water this weekend and I can see how it's a love it or hate it movie evan though I fell somewhere inbetween, it was better than The Village but no where near as good as Unbreakable, The Sixth Sense, or Signs.

Miami Vice sucked, and I really like Micheal Mann. I mean Foxx and Farrell had about one facial expression the entire time, the plot made less and less sense as it went along (what the hell happened to the insider informant they were trying to find!) And there was some of the most hilariously bad lines I've heard in years: "If we aint done the time togetha, we aint doin the crime togetha"-Colin Farrell. One of my favorites, plenty more where that came from though. Heres to hoping it falls hard next weekend.

miami vice-- not real good but watchable
it's one of those 2.5/ 5 star films; i think there were lines/ shots in the trailer that were not in the movie.... i thought the plot was ok; roeper said the main villain disappears inexplicably but I thought was explained okay with a shot or two... what the hell, if you like this sort of stuff then you might like it okay... it's no HEAT or MANHUNTER or COLLATERAL that is for sure.

Vice deserved what it got but the movie is going to fade fast. The story was hard to understand and both actors mummbled way to much. And both lead actors had no chemistry. They both looked like they knew each other but really didn't care that much. I hope the Decsent does well because it looks so scary

I loved both Miami Vice and Dead Man's Chest, but to be honest, I was a bit let-down by both of them. Miami Vice wasn't so much of a let-down as just different from what I expected, and it felt like Michael Mann just didn't put his heart or mind into it, except for with the actual filming aspect, which was great. It had an awesome first 45 minutes or so, and scattered moments of greatness throughout, but not as good as I had hoped. Dead Man's Chest just suffered from being half a movie and having ridiculously huge shoes to fill. Pirates 3 should be sick, though... in a good way. I still loved both films, and I recommend them for everyone.
