"Pirates 4" -- Hold the Gore (Verbinski)?
Summary
It might not come as a shock to hear that director Gore Verbinski probably wants to take a break from the "Pirates" some time soon. Word is he might be collaborating with "Bloom County" creator Berkeley Breathed on a CGI flick. Back to Article

![]() on May 08 2007 03:31 AM I'd like Peter Jackson to do a pirate film..... RRRR!!! (Reply to this) |
![]() on May 08 2007 03:36 AM In reply to this comment (#864350) Peter Jackson wouldn't sink that low. With a new director, is there actually a possibility that the fourth movie could be passable? I'd like to entertain the notion, but I think the ship is already sunk. (Reply to this) |

on May 08 2007 05:13 AM After this third movie, I want Johnny Depp to return to creating a new character in each of his films. What's more, I think too many films will tarnish Capt. Jack's status as one of the all-time great movie characters. It already has a bit, if you ask me. (Reply to this) |

on May 08 2007 06:35 AM In reply to this comment (#864351) Peter Jackson wouldn't sink that low? You've obviously never seen Bad Taste or Meet the Feebles. Actually, he would be a pretty good choice for something like that, because he could bring the mix of action and humor that the series demands. But then, I obviously thought the movies were better than you did. (Reply to this) |

on May 08 2007 07:10 AM In reply to this comment (#864353) Jackson also made a movie about a big ape, so perhaps a movie about Pirates isn't that far off..... (Reply to this) |

on May 08 2007 08:15 AM Renny Harlin is a terrible director. (Reply to this) |
![]() on May 08 2007 09:06 AM I'd love to see Peter Jackson make a fourth Pirates movie..... as soon as he gets Halo funded, makes that, gets the Children of Hurin script, makes that, New Line fires O'Shay (whatever, I don't even care if I spelled his name wrong) and he makes the Hobbit, and then I'd love to see him make Pirates. The sooner he does all that, the better. In fact, after Raimi just failed with Spidey 3, I wouldn't mind if Hollywood just designated Jackson it's official blockbuster director. (Nolan can keep Batman and I guess Riddley Scott, Stephen Spielberg and Joss Whedon can have something too, but otherwise......) (Reply to this) |

on May 08 2007 09:13 AM jackson would be a terrible director for a pirate movie. He'll probably spend 2 hours just setting up what Sparrow is trying to steal. (Reply to this) |

on May 08 2007 02:45 PM In reply to this comment (#864357) Right, not enough walking on ship and as Clerks 2 taught us. That was the basis of Jacksons biggest success :) (Reply to this) |

on May 08 2007 02:49 PM ugh, 3 is enough. honestly. (Reply to this) |
![]() on May 08 2007 03:53 PM Please don't put us through another one. I mean, the first was a lot of fun, but the second one was boring as hell. I fell asleep BOTH times I tried to watch it. If the third one is REALLY good, then I won't mind, but as of right now, I don't want another Pirates adventure. >>===aaron==> (Reply to this) |

on May 08 2007 03:54 PM if three is enough, like they usually say for a franchise, then why have the Bond films made it to number 21 going on 22.......i think anything is possible if there is a story to be told... (Reply to this) |

on May 08 2007 07:53 PM Screw Pirates, the big news here is the Berkeley Breathed flick. (Reply to this) |
![]() on May 08 2007 08:44 PM NO MORE SEQUELS! PLEASE! what do we need here? please johnny depp, don't just cash a paycheck, stop after 3 so the next one can go straight to dvd. (Reply to this) |

on May 09 2007 03:33 PM In reply to this comment (#864353) I am amazed that anybody else has seen Bad Taste or Meet the Feebles. I actually own all of Peter Jackson's films on DVD (Except for Heavenly Creatures)I wonder has Anyone seen Brain-Dead (Or Dead-Alive as it is called in the States)? But I don't think Peter Jackson would continue Pirates. I don't debate that he would do a superb job, and if he was origanally tapped to direct the first three they would most likely have been ten times better. The thing is, Peter Jackson isn't some second grade filmmaker who could be used to make a film passable for entertainment when the companies are still trying to cash in on the previous films sucesses. He is the man you go to first; besides he likes to write his own films with his wife, and their business partner Philipa Boyens. (Reply to this) |
![]() on May 09 2007 11:00 PM I said - I'd like to see Peter Jackson direct "a" pirate movie, not necessarily POTC. Whilst he'd be good at that series too, I think he could do a rival pirate series that perhaps captures the heart of the computer game "Sid Meier's Pirates". It would be epic and possibly more mature. Nevertheless, I love POTC for what it is, fun. Reminds me of another pirate computer game that I used to play as a kid actually, "Monkey Island". I hope someone round here knows what the hell I'm talking about. (Reply to this) |

on May 11 2007 01:21 PM In reply to this comment (#864363) Why complain about it, saying "please don't put us through another one"? no one is forcing you to watch it ... (Reply to this) |

on May 19 2007 04:07 PM In reply to this comment (#864367) Don't forget "The Frighteners" with Michael J. Fox. (Reply to this) |
