Leonardo DiCaprio as Hugh Hefner?
by Scott Weinberg | July 13, 2007

We already know that Brian Grazer is producing and Brett Ratner is directing "Playboy," a big-screen bio-pic on Hugh Hefner -- but is Leonardo DiCaprio now on board to star?

That's what The Guardian is reporting. Well, at least that Leo is "in talks" for the Grazer / Ratner collaboration. An unnamed source says "Leo thinks it would make a great movie and Hugh would love Leo to do it - on the condition that Hugh is alive to see it." Which I guess is another way of saying "Leo will do it if it doesn't take five years to get off the ground."

The Guardian does mention an "unauthorized" made-for-TV Hef bio-pic from a few years back, but this would be the first time the magazine tycoon's story made it to the big screen. Expect a big ensemble cast and (almost definitely) an R rating.

Howard Hughes, Hugh Heffner.... so is Leo going to play in bio-pics of everyone with the letters "hugh" in their name?

I don't know Ratner might have the right amount of sleaze to make this work...you know 100% sleaze.

I think DiCaprio would be a sweet Hefner.

This depends, of course, on your definition of "sleeze."

In addition to playing young Hef, will Leo play modern-day, lecherous Hugh Hefner, with lots of makeup and CGI?

The only reason to watch this movie would be to study his methods for getting all that tail.

Note to self: Bring notepad and paper when watching this movie.

It doesn't really matter because everything Ratner touches turns to poo.

let's get two things straight here 1. this movie is more than likely going to be awful and 2. there isn't a straight guy in the world who wouldn't want to play Hugh Hefner. Leo may be a great actor but he's also human.
