This dramatization of gay Canadian teen Marc Hall's battle against his Catholic school board captures the drama and political implications of the struggle, while remaining lightly comic in its tone. Coming of age in a small Ontario town, Marc (Aaron Ashmore, THE SAFETY OF OBJECTS, MY BROTHER'S KEEPER) is an out young man in a public relationship with Jason (Mac Fyfe); Marc is popular and has escaped the harassment commonly inflicted on homosexual high school students. Consequently, he thinks nothing of bringing Jason as his date to the prom, but the board of his Catholic school feels otherwise. When he decides to fight for his rights, he attracts the attention of the media, and soon Marc finds himself a spokesperson for the national gay community. With the support of the student body, not to mention his audience at home, Marc goes head-to-head with the authorities in this charming, inspiring underdog tale. Ashmore turns in a heartfelt performance, while former KIDS IN THE HALL stars Scott Thompson and Dave Foley round out the cast as a pro bono lawyer and the school principal, respectively. The stellar soundtrack features pop hits from the likes of The New Pornographers, Erasure, and Melanie Doane. [More]

... the proceedings are a pleasure to watch and, with Gary Koftinoff & Company’s music tracks, sound great.
