Get Ready for "John Rambo"
by Scott Weinberg | February 21, 2007
Discuss Article
Now that his "Rocky Balboa" has come and gone -- and turned out to be a pretty well-received comeback piece -- Sylvester Stallone is busy putting some touches on his next comeback piece, a little with the official title of ... "John Rambo."

Nope, not "Rambo 4," "Pearl of the Cobra," or "In the Serpent's Eye" (whatever that means), but "John Rambo," because obviously the only reason "Rocky 6" made any money is because it was called "Rocky Balboa."

I'm a bit more skeptical about the return of Rambo than I was about the return of Balboa, and here's why: Rocky is an underdog whose story could take place anywhere at any time; John Rambo, on the other hand, is firmly stuck in the '80s. But hey, I'd love to be proven wrong. I did enjoy "Rocky Balboa" a bit more than I expected to...

Nazi's, Russians, VC, Terrorists...all the same to Rambo. I'd actually like to see him go Ranier Wolfcastle and combat the Commie-Nazi threat :)

It would be great if Stallone would scrap the Chirstian missionary idea and place Rambo in Iraq. Rambo was always the anti-hero, but sold differently to conservative markets. So seeing how the Iraq war is eerily similar to Vietnam, Stallone should incorporate current events into the script, evoking the same feeling of the first film. It would bring the series to full closure, much like Rocky Balboa .

"Marion Cobretti" is another character he should bring back. Sick movie! very underrated.

Iraq isn't Rambo's war and neither was Afghanistan which is why Rambo III sucked. Rambo needs something personal to identify with to make him come full circle. Something that draws him into action. If they placed it in Iraq it would also be a cheap ploy to sell tickets

Haha, Angry Video Game Nerd saw this title coming a month or two ago. Although I think this is a better title than what they were going with originally.

Does Stallone have huge gambling debts or something? Or is he just trying to pay off his plastic surgery bills and mullet implants?
