Will Shawnee Smith Return for "Saw 4"?

Bloody-Disgusting.com hears from a reliable source that, yep, Shawnee Smith will indeed be returning for a fourth "Saw"-tastic murder marathon. But apparently the actress herself and director Darren Lynn Bousman are denying that claim.

AS BD.com notes, this is kind of the same thing that happened last year when "the buzz" indicated that Donnie Wahlberg would be returning for "Saw 3" ... which he did.

The newest "Saw" flick, which welcomes "Feast" screenwriters Marcus Dunston and Patrick Melton, opens on October 26th.

It doesn't matter who plays in it. It will get bad reviews and make a lot of money. Oh yes there will be cash. Until the series just becomes a joke like the Police Academy series and dies into obscurity.

This reminds me of the fourth installment of the Friday the 13th series, titled The Final Chapter. Now, with a title like that, you'd think that would be the end, right? Wrong! Then comes A New Beginning, with a copycat killer. Since everyone thought that was a retarded storyline, they brought Jason back for the sixth film as a (wait for it) friggin' zombie. Now, it's not like this series made any sense to begin with, but do you see how much stupider these horror franchises become when they achieve success?

Mark my words, by the time Saw V comes out, Jigsaw will be a vampire. When Saw IX rolls around, the setting will be futuristic. Ten years later, he'll be fighting Mr. Brooks.

Jigsaw will be back in it, but not in it. He will only be in video recordings telling Jeff what to do, but that doesnt mean that Jigsaw is alive being that he set everything up already. And who knows, maybe Shawnee will be in a flash back. There are still questions unanswered from Saw 3, like, what was in the envelope he gave Amanda?

first off, this series IS a joke. it sucks. wait soon...and see a REAL horror flick, Hostel 2. Saw is ridiculously predictable and its borderline boring. and to even THINK that this chic would pass up this role is insane. cuz...she has so many other opportunities?? yeah HOOOOK. i wouldn't mind the series if they'd do some brainstorming and come up with GOOD/ORIGINAL IDEAS, or get people that can act. but its really no better than a freakishly low budget horror flick thats straight to dvd at your local video store. this series is dangerously close to...Saw...In Space

Nobody gives a crap! Seriously, now the filmmakers are just getting desperate.

C'mon, does anyone really want to know useless info like, "what was Jigsaw's connection to Obi?" or "what was in the tape that Jigsaw poured wax over?" These are the most minute and worthless questions that only die-hard fans of the series would ask.

Most people, normal people, agree that the series has overstayed its welcome. Hell, some people think that it overstayed its welcome three years ago. I hope that this movie and its "unanswered questions" bomb at the box office so that Lionsgate can finally lay off of its torture-fest franchise.

You Saw bashers need to give it a rest. It's an original and fun franchise that has yet to really go stale. The twists are great, the deaths are beyond amazing (and twisted) and the story is actually pretty cool.

If not for Saw what horror franchise would we even have?? NOTHING... Pretty much everything else released is garbage.

I gave up on the franchise after the second one. It just lost the thrills and shock value that the first one had. This can't turn out good if they just churn out sequel after sequel to make some extra cash.

the saw movies have never been fun, they are an exact mimic of one of the greatest films....SEVEN! the director of the first one even stated that seven was his inspiration for the saw movies, and it isn't all that fun, there is a lot of terrible acting, terrible script writing, and even worse cinimatography, honestly, how many freaking times did saw 3 flash back or the camera went berserk and flailed about! it has definately gone stale and they have run out of ideas! please god, stop this franchise from continuing to exist!

The Descent, The Devil's Rejects, 28 Days Later, Shaun of the Dead (although I suppose that's more of a horror/comedy), the Dawn of the Dead remake, Land of the Dead, Open Water, Cabin Fever, Slither, and Night Watch? Those were all way better than those stupid Saw flicks.

As for Shawnee Smith's character, I predict she'll die in the beginning of the fourth film. But THAT is just a prediction.

Jigsaw will be there and that's confirmed, just look through the archives.

the saw series sucks..... there not fun........ there the cheapest form of horror i have ever seen......... it's just people getting brutally killed...... sure it would probably be fun to make........ but it's not fun to watch...... it's just retarded........ i don't mind blood and gore in movies of course...... i love the movie "dead alive" which is an extremely violent and gory horror movies i have ever seen but i love it for it and it does it in like the funnest way possible........ i also like the evil dead/army of darkness series...... but do they really need so many sequels for such a lame ass series like this....... well i don't think so........ but they will probably bring in like at least 10 more movies since all the teenagers love seeing people get ripped in half and think it has some value.
