First Cast Member Claimed for "Saw 4" Duty
by Scott Weinberg | April 09, 2007
Discuss Article
Since I've only seen maybe 1.6 hours of "The Gilmore Girls" in my lifetime, I have no idea who this guy is, but we're being told that actor Scott Patterson has been cast in a central role in Darren Lynn Bousman's third "Saw" movie, the appropriately titled "Saw 4."

Well, it's April so I guess it's time for the annual "running of the new "Saw" cast members." According to one source, it looks like this Patterson guy will jump in with all the traps and puzzles and torture chambers and stuff. The actor is a longtime TV veteran, although the only movies of his that I've seen are "Little Big League" and "Three Wishes." (Here's hoping "Saw 4" is better than those two flicks.)

We're also happy to remind you that Tobin Bell is indeed returning as the Energizer Bunny of near-dead psychopaths: Jigsaw. "Feast" screenwriters Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton are the real newcomers to the series. Expect "Saw 4" to hit theaters right before Thanksgiving. (Just kidding. Everyone knows the "Saw" movies come out right before Christmas.)

For those of you who have no idea who Scott Patterson is I will help out. I have been forced to watch disc after disc of that shitty shit Gilmore Girls with my lady so I actually know who he is. I know it makes me less of a man but at least I can use it for good rather than evil. He plays Luke on Gilmore Girls, the guy who owns the diner and always I MEAN ALWAYS have his blue baseball cap on backwards. So now if you are curious and extremely bored and you see it on tv thats what you need to look for. Its nice to see someone with some balls on that show too because there is an over abundancy of annoying bitches!

I got depressed when I read about Patterson's casting in Saw IV.

Being a fan of Gilmore Girls(especially the show's fantastic dialog use and great comic timing), it seemed odd that Patterson would so suddenly step into the goo of a horror flick. Was Saw truly the best project he could find?!

I would have expected a more sophisticated enterprise for his acting skills.

The Saw flicks, I think, are digging casting WB, now CW, actors in their movies. Beverly Mitchell was in Saw 2 and plays in 7th Heaven. Emmannuelle Vaugier played the off and on again role of Nikki in One Tree Hill and was also in Saw 2. Now this guy who is in The Gilmore Girls will be in Saw 4.

Keeps the budget down and the profit up. Not a bad strategy. People are going to see this movie no matter who is in it.

agreed. the whole theatre laughed at the first one (myself included). and they keep getting more laughable (especially with the casting of Donnie Don in the 2nd one).

wow, a Saw film that might actually be good?
I'm not a big fan of the first three, and downright loathe the first one. But the writers that they've hired this time fill me with a certain degree of hope.

Lorelai isn't gonna be happy about this.

I've seen about 135/149 episodes of Gilmore Girls..
