Trailer Bulletin: Exclusive Red Band Semi-Pro
Summary
Semi-Pro's going to be Ferrell's first raunchy, foul-mouthed comedy since Old School. The studio still has the movie listed as yet to be rated, but we're guessing it's going to be an "R" judging from Rotten Tomatoes' exclusive, red band trailer. Back to Article

on Dec 21 2007 10:39 PM In reply to this comment (#1383156) Enter the zip code that appears on your driver's license. My current zip code is not what is on my drivers license, so once I figured that out- I saw the trailer just fine. Speaking of which... it looks ok. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Dec 22 2007 09:51 AM i thought the end was pretty funny, but the overall preview didn't seem that great. (Reply to this) |

on Dec 22 2007 11:08 AM i think it looks like it has some potential. i like will ferrell so i'll give it a chance. woody harrelson and andre 3000 seem like weird choices to me but whatever (Reply to this) |

on Dec 22 2007 11:19 AM What I don't understand is, exactly who is going to be more attracted to this movie for its foul language than if it didn't have it? And who thought that cramming it all into the trailer was effective marketing? "Folks, with this trailer, we're aiming for the cussin' demographic!" Or am I gravely mistaken about the number of my fellow countrymen who have graduated junior high school, emotionally? (Reply to this) |
|
on Dec 22 2007 12:59 PM Uh, I thought this trailer was fantastic, can't wait. (Reply to this) |
|
on Dec 22 2007 02:08 PM I think Andre 3000 is a fantastic musician...but dude needs to stop acting. He sucks and his movies always suck. (Reply to this) |
|
on Dec 22 2007 02:52 PM I like the idea that Will Ferrel is going for a hard R comedy. But this was a bit over the top with no payoff. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Dec 22 2007 02:56 PM Well James Francis born june 25th 1985 from Hartford, Connecticut watched the trailer... or did he? (Reply to this) |

on Dec 22 2007 03:10 PM sometimes I think these guys have so much fun writing and filming and working together during the intimate time that happens when you make a movie, that they loose sight of the fact that inside jokes and good times on a set DON'T equal a quality comedy film. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Dec 22 2007 05:56 PM No genre suffers backlash faster than comedy. Very quickly, people just get sick of you trying to make them laugh. This could have been a good trailer, but we'll never know. Why? Because **** Will Ferrell, that's why. And Judd Apatow. And everyone who makes at least one comedy a year. All sarcasm aside, I think the strength of a good comedy...and thus, the ultimate undoing of any comedian...is unpredictability. We love comedies so much when we see them for the first time, but they languish on our shelf when we buy the DVD. And the second you can succinctly describe a comedian's shtick, he/she is done for. Carrey understood this and jumped ship for drama, where you can get away with a lot of pretentious stuff and not have too many people hating on your lame trailer. We'll see if Ferrell has the same good fortune. (Reply to this) |

on Dec 22 2007 07:24 PM so i guess if your from Canada you cant watch it... damn zip code (Reply to this) |

on Dec 24 2007 05:15 AM looks funny. does anyone on here have a sense of humor or are we all too busy whining? lighten up. ;) (Reply to this) |
![]() on Dec 24 2007 06:17 AM the trailer was waaaay flat but simi pro basketball is ripe for the pickens if done right farrell's apparel is classic in the shot above the burnt umber pure 70's (Reply to this) |
![]() on Dec 24 2007 08:18 AM This age thing is retarded. I'm 23 and it won't let me watch it (Reply to this) |
![]() on Dec 24 2007 08:28 AM This is gay. I can't watch it eventhough I'm 94. (Reply to this) |

on Dec 24 2007 12:53 PM R rated, Judd Apatow-esque comedies are doing so well lately (40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked up, Super Bad, Walk Hard). They have all been critically acclaimed (which is hard for comedies) and they have all been financially successful. Will Farrell has a loyal following and his movies generally do quite well. This movie will do well and the fans of this genre will probably be satisfied. Why so much hate? (Reply to this) |
|
on Dec 24 2007 06:35 PM Back off people! Will Ferell is known for his good comedy movies! You can't put all that judgement on a trailer! I remember when Anchorman's trailer was in theaters and all the people I know thought that it looked kinda stupid, now evreyone knows that Anchorman is one of the funniset movies around! Give it a chance (Reply to this) |
|
on Dec 25 2007 12:11 PM The trailer seamed kind of forced, but Will ferrell 70's basketball = a potential hilarious movie. Ferrell hasn't let me down yet, so I'm still hyped about this movie. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Dec 26 2007 08:16 AM Andre 3000? That's Tim Meadows you dip****! (Reply to this) |
|
on Dec 28 2007 05:08 AM I don't know why everybody is hating this trailer. It's hilarious and i can't wait to see the movie. If you don't like comedies, or will ferrel, you obviously won't like the trailer so why are you wasting your time watching this and then bitching about it? (Reply to this) |
|
on Dec 28 2007 12:35 PM I really like Wil Ferrell but he has got to change it up a little bit. I mean the cocky idiot character can only go so far. Look how terrible Anchorman was and really Blades of Glory just wasn't that great. I just don't want him to burn out too quickly. He is funny and very talented. This movie just doesn't seem to have it either. (Reply to this) |
|
on Dec 28 2007 03:25 PM that actually looked pretty funny (Reply to this) |
|
on Dec 28 2007 11:08 PM This really doesn't look good at all. Farrell seems to be a real hit or miss. I will say that the cocky idiot character has ran its course. I really like him and I think he can be hilarious, but he needs to move to something new. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Dec 29 2007 03:11 PM I did not laugh once during the trailer. I will be skipping this like free hot dogs at a whorehouse. Dewey Cox = Good Semi-Pro = Ca-ca (Reply to this) |
|
on Dec 29 2007 09:08 PM Looks funny. I agree with Unklehulka - you are all dead inside. (Reply to this) |
|
on Jan 01 2008 05:52 PM will ferral used to be somebody i enjoyed watching, but after all the stupid sports spoofs, he's somebody i avoid watching. (Reply to this) |
