Duo team for Chickflicks
Risher, Austin create indie production house
Duo's tapped Westpark Capital in association with financial adviser Bill Shea to provide $100 million in financing for the slate over the next five years. They plan to begin announcing the first three pics in the next few months.
Risher's the former New Line prexy of production who established New Line-based Chickflicks, which focused on femme-themed projects such as "Raise Your Voice" and "Love and War." Austin's credits include "The Long Kiss Goodnight," "Terminator 2," "True Lies" and "Sahara."
"With the extraordinary success of 'Sex and the City,' the underserved market for intelligent, emotional films with relatable female characters has spoken emphatically," Risher said.
