Prinze stars as a high-school stud who makes a bet with a friend that he can transform the hopelessly geeky Cook into a prom queen. It turns out the transformation is even more successful than he could have imagined--before he knows it, he's fallen in love with her himself. Reviews for She's All That
This is a movie aimed at insecure and immature pre-teens, but gives these impressionable youths hideous role-models and messages.
It's often impossible to distinguish what's meant to be cartoonish from what's meant to be dramatic, but the confusion seems appropriately adolescent.
She's All That is not likely to make a mark or be remembered by anyone for very long, but it's harmless enough and useful for finding the finer points of this genre.
If you're a teen and you like MTV's The Real World, I think you might enjoy this picture. If you're not a teen, there's better pictures out there for you.
In the parlance of American Bandstand it’s got a good beat and you can dance to it, but that hardly separates it from the rest of the pack.
A very entertaining and touching film and one of the better efforts in the recent class of teen flicks.
To say this isn't original is to understate the matter. However, although it's questionable whether this story has ever been done well, that hasn't stopped filmmakers from repeatedly trying.
A completely common and utterly excruciating high school ugly duckling romance so grossly out of touch with the times that even the title is passe.
No surprise here: Laney gets a makeover and turns into a babe-and-a-half. Zack realizes what a manipulative jerk he is, and Taylor returns for the predictable standoff with Laney for his affections.
Every early attempt at proving this won’t be a standard teen flick is eventually negated by a cop-out later on in the film.
She's All That feels like it could have been made by a team of septuagenarians from the glory days of American Intl. Pictures.
Factor in a lack of sparks between Prinze and Cook, and one is left with a romantic comedy with little in the way of romance.
Only Prinze, who has the ethereal, gentlemanly quality of a young Anthony Perkins, gets enough screen time to really make an impression.
Iscove's film has its own brand of charm and is reasonable enough in its ambitions that it's awfully hard to resist.
Once, just once, I'd love to see a teen flick that doesn't send out a message to young girls that to be acceptable, you have to conform. I liked the artist girl much better before.
