Summary

Jai Ho it up with the DVD debut of Danny Boyle's multiple Oscar-winning film, Slumdog Millionaire! It's also your week to catch films you might have missed in theaters, from Jennifer Aniston's tale of puppy love (Marley & Me) to the latest heart-wrencher from Will Smith (Seven Pounds). Those who dare to go foreign will be justly rewarded with two well-reviewed imports (the French thriller Tell No One and the Spanish sci-fi Timecrimes), while art-house devotees have two remastered Wong Kar-Wai films to choose from (Happy Together and Fallen Angels). Horror fans have an octet of new flicks to check out (After Dark Horror Fest 8 Films to Die For)...and did we mention the sweet new Blu-ray that should be on the top of any philosophical cyberpunk's wishlist (The Matrix 10th Anniversary Blu-ray Digibook)? I want to rent Timecrimes, I love movies that deal with time paradoxes and ideas. I'll stay way from Marly and Me, and also Seven Pounds which I heard sucked. I'll get Slumdog Millionaire for sure. Not much else for me in a while though.

Will get Slumdog Millionaire used soon (yep, I'm that broke right now). Nothing else this week. I'm really considering subscribing to Zip.ca (the Canadian equiavalent of Netflix) because the videoclub is kind far from home, but I don't know yet...

I'll get "The Matrix", haven't seen "Slumdog", I will now, and this week also has two of the weakest Best Picture winners. No offense to "An American in Paris" or "Gigi" (Not "Gigli"), but they're only okay.

I will get Slumdog Millionaire for sure as soon as it comes out. Also I am interested in Seven Pounds just because Ebert seemed to really like that movie, so I will rent it and see what it is all about.

My mom liked "Seven Pounds". I haven't seen it, but I find her taste usally good. (She did reccomend "Jack Frost" to me though...hmmm.)

Wow, someone messed up.

The Slumdog DVD is missing ALL of the special features listed on the packaging.

Plus, they failed to use a different form of subtitling from that of the theatrical version... so if you're watching the movie on anything smaller than a 30ish inch screen, good luck reading the text.

I don't know how someone messed up this bad.

You think An American In Paris and Gigi are weak Best Picture winners, wait till you see Slumdog. Slumdog is the film that trumped far better films to a nomination and even somehow managed to win.

I've got 'Tell No One' coming tomorrow, 'TimeCrimes' this weekend hopefully.

I'll probably have to wait for Slumdog, as everyone wants to see it.

Oh, and all you jealous suckers- I won two free tickets to a midnight showing of 'Slap Shot' Saturday night! (That's the only way I'd go. I'm not gonna pay $9 to see a movie my brother has on DVD...)

Don't always believe what you hear jokerboy. Seven Pounds has a 73% from the RT community, which I always trust more than the critics. I personally thought it was a really good film, and Will Smith and Rosario Dawson gave great performances.

Anyway, I'll be picking that up. But most importantly, I will pick up Slumdog Millionaire. I also think I want to rent Timecrimes and Tell No One. I could do with some foreign language thrillers. I need some since I can't watch my Let The Right One In DVD until they re-release it with the proper subtitles. Anyone know when that might happen.
