Between his increasing interest in the opposite sex, and having to defend himself against bullies at school, Taliesin has a lot on his plate. In addition, his mother (Geraldine James) has deserted the family, leaving Taliesin and his resentful older brother to live with their distant, non-communicative father (Jonathan Pryce). Taliesin latches onto religion when he witnesses a supposed spiritual healing, forming a secret society at school called "The Believers."
