Help Name Carnahan's Smokin' Aces Prequel!
Completely Unnecessary has a nice ring to it...
by Jeff Giles | August 17, 2007

It was ripped to shreds by critics (and didn't exactly set the world on fire at the box office), but it recouped its budget, so Joe Carnahan's Smokin' Aces is getting a direct-to-DVD prequel, and Carnahan -- who is executive producing -- wants to know what you think it should be called.

No, seriously, he wants to know. Over at SmokinJoeCarnahan.com, he's set up a two-week naming contest, ending on August 29th. The prequel synopsis, straight from Carnahan:

'A low level government analyst, with forty plus years working an FBI information post, is slated to be assassinated, for reasons unknown at an exact date and time within the next three days. A federal 'Grab Team' or close protection detail has been tasked with saving this man's life...'

...chaos ensues.'

The action takes place in D.C. and in New Orleans. Some familiar faces return. Some very surprising. I won't say any more.

Well, he does say a little more -- specifically, "THERE WILL BE NO FINANCIAL COMPENSATION OF ANY KIND PAID TO THE WINNER OF THIS CONTEST" -- but if the above story outline fills you with inspiration, follow the link below and toss your title in the ring. Or better yet, just list your suggestions here. I'm sure we can come up with a few interesting names...

Well, if it were a sequel (which it isn't), I think the boring sequel name would have to be Smokin' Deuces.
