on May 08 2008 08:25 PM #47, there are obviously no Muscle car fans here. That is not a 71 Camero, it is either a 67 or a 68 (can't see the tail lights) Those were the only two years that had the fake hood vents, and only the first gen Chevy f-bodys had that nose with the hideaway lights. 70 and on had fixed lights. Do a Google search before you post something guys. (Reply to this) |
![]() on May 08 2008 09:00 PM Also, you know what that Car from the movie "the car" does look like Bender in Were-Car mode ;) Always nice to see a futurama reference and as we are talking about great cartoons how about the flintsones car? The movie may have been awful but the car remains a Yabba dabba doo success!! (Reply to this) |

on May 08 2008 10:32 PM In reply to this comment (#1726967) Hey Jtreadwell, Thanks for catching that mistake. It is a 1967, and our original notes have it listed as a 67, but somehow that typo slipped in when we posted the article. (I feel like a jerk for not catching that myself - I personally feel that 1970 is the start of the long, downhill slide for the Camaro badge). (Reply to this) |

on May 09 2008 07:02 AM RT guys- I gotta say, I was starting to think that whenever you guys can't find anything to write about, you just pound out a list. I wanted to apologize, because this list was really COOL, from reminding me about a lot of the movie cars of my childhood to giving the actual identity of the cars. Dunno that the order matters to me all that much, but I was VERY happy to see the Delorean and the General Lee so high. And regarding the Lamborghini, that was eerily accurate: I was an early-teenage boy in the 80's and I spent hours drooling over my brother's poster of a white Countach. Hats off. (Reply to this) |

on May 09 2008 08:28 AM Here's one, but only for honorable mention though. "Stripes" had the EM-50 Urban Assault Vehicle, which was actually just a 70's GMC mobile home. Except that it was decked out with armored sides/windows, a rocket launcher, a flame-thrower, and also comfortably seated a whole, kidnapped POW platoon. Sorry though, the drill sargeant has to ride on the roof. Loved it, and the movie, but probably not a TOP 50. p.s. Read RT daily for awhile now, but only just registered today so that I could leave this comment. Had to bring the info to the masses, though. (Reply to this) |

on May 09 2008 08:36 AM Horrible Horrible List. Bullitt's Car is 25? Below the fake parts built Elenor from Gone in 60 seconds? His car in Gone in Gone in 60 isn't a replica of the original gone in 60 car, its a replica of Bullitt's Car. The Delor (Reply to this) |

on May 09 2008 08:46 AM Horrible Horrible List. Bullitt's Car is 25? Below the fake parts built Elenor from Gone in 60 seconds? His car in Gone in Gone in 60 isn't a replica of the original gone in 60 car, its a replica of Bullitt's Car. The De Lorean in first is great, its a classic pop culture car. Herbie si cool, but not top 5 by far, its a frikken beatle that most people may not know due to it being a crappy movie at that. Mach 5? Its not a real working car, most of these other cars are street legal cars, this thing is a prototype and 95% computer animation. The General Lee and Torino are classics, in the classic shows. These movies were pure garbage and the cars don't stand the originals. Why not have Mork's car on the list if these two are on it. Lastly, WTF THE TRUCK FROM DUEL. Sure its a TV Movie but theres TV show remakes tossed here too. A truck that would make you crap your draws is never something to leave off the list. You have vans, cartoons and others, why not the most awesome truck ever. Top 10: 1) Bullitt's Mustang 2) De Lorean 3) Blues Mobile (Who Can't Quote the Features on this Baby) 4) Bond's Aston 5) Duel's Truck 6) Greased Lightning 7) Bat-Mobile (1989) 8) Lotus 9) Ferris' Ferrari 10) Mirth Mobile (Reply to this) |

on May 09 2008 10:19 AM Delorean at #1? You betcha! I know it's IMPOSSIBLE to please everyone, and there are some imspired choices on this list, but I was surprised to not see Austin Powers' "Shaguar" on the list. I was delighted to see the Alfa Romeo from "The Graduate" make the list. Not so sure about doubling up on cars from remakes in lieu of other cars that may have got bumped off the list, either, but hey, that's just me. :) Steve (Reply to this) |

on May 09 2008 11:39 AM In reply to this comment (#1727497) Hey Steve, You're absolutely right; anytime you present a list like this, people will have disagreements. Everyone brings their own experiences to this sort of list, and so that definitely affects the perceptions about placement and such. More than anything else, the list is a measure of how famous certain cars are to the general public. So cars like Bullitt's Mustang, for instance, get placed lower on the list because even though it's really, really well known to car lovers, we don't believe that it's that famous to the rest of the general public. And it was also a tough call on both Eleanors and both sets of Minis, but ultimately we figured they all should be on the list. I should also mention that this isn't a ranking of awesomeness - that would be a wildly different list. (Reply to this) |
