Consensus: A kinetic and fun movie that's sure to thrill children of all ages.

Genre: Action/Adventure

When the notorious husband-and-wife spy team Gregorio and Ingrid Cortez (Antonio Banderas and Carla Gugino) is kidnapped by the evil Fegan Floop (Alan Cumming), the two Cortez children are the only ones who have the right skills and the insider know-how to help. Together Carmen and Juni Cortez (Alexa Vega and Daryl Sabara) set out on their first spy mission to find Floop and rescue their parents. SPY KIDS is a high-wire family adventure that lets the kids save the day. Though director Robert Rodriguez was previously best known for violent action films like DESPERADO and FROM DUSK TILL DAWN, here he creates family-friendly fare that still shows elements of his trademark energy. SPY KIDS was followed by SPY KIDS 2: ISLAND OF LOST DREAMS and SPY KIDS 3-D: GAME OVER. [More]

Neatly combines the more outrageous elements of James Bond spy movies with the fun aspects of kid flicks.

Arguably the best segment in Four Rooms is the one with the little kids left alone in the room by their dad. I trust Rodriguez with kids as a subject. I liked it.

It's a blast of energy that one really can refer to (without the slightest hint of reservation) as 'good for the whole family.'

The rare kind of movie that doesn't dumb it down for the kids and won't embarrass grownups who come to see it sans familia.

If I had seen this as a child, I would have thought it was the greatest movie ever made. Having seen it as an adult, I felt like a kid all over again.

Best used by Planned Parenthood as a pro-contraceptive, pro-choice advertisement--the idea of hauling kids to this junk is enough to make any prospective parent think twice.

a vibrant, creative thrill ride that is long on imagination and gleefully short on logic

Every so often a family movie comes along that will appeal to the whole family, and Spy Kids is one of those.

It has just the right combination of giddy fantasy, exciting adventure, wonderful special effects, and sly comedy.

A wildly inventive kids' movie that doesn't pander to its audience, isn't full of potty humor, and teaches a good message.
