J.J. Abrams is no dummy. With the future of the Star Trek film franchise hinging on his fresh-faced reboot, the Cloverfield producer knew the best time to debut Star Trek XI's first teaser would be the date he'd been mercilessly drilling into moviegoers' brains for months: 1-18-08. Back to Article

on Jan 22 2008 06:19 AM I can honestly say that this is the first time in many many years that I have looked forward to a Star Trek movie...I think JJ will do a good job of working with the legacy.....Can't wait to see it this Christmas...and looking forward to that paunchy Shatner cameo (Reply to this) |

on Jan 22 2008 06:19 AM I liked the teaser. It gave a sense of exploring the unknown, of awe and wonder, similar to that of the classic 2001: Space Odyseey or even the more recent Sunshine. I hope the movie can keep up with it. (Reply to this) |

on Jan 22 2008 06:33 AM I see JJ is up to it again lol... He isnt going to show us anything until the movie comes out... Gotta give it to the guy, he knows how to play us.. Good stuff. (Reply to this) |

on Jan 22 2008 06:41 AM Nice. Here's hoping that, for once, an odd numbered Star Trek movie can deliver. (Reply to this) |
|
on Jan 22 2008 08:04 AM Im excited for this... and Ive never even been close to being a trekkie. (Reply to this) |

on Jan 22 2008 08:28 AM This movie is going to suck....JJ needs to stick to producing, I mean MI3 sucked and so did everything else he did. He's got a 5% tomatometer, I mean, what the hell are the Star Trek people thinking letting him direct....oh....wait...I am thinking of Uwe Boll. HAHAHAHHA Got you going there. I can't freakin wait until this comes out. And MI3 rocked! I hope they make the clingons more aggressive and evil. That would be cool. (Reply to this) |

on Jan 22 2008 08:37 AM One more thing, did anyone else see the cast on the IMDB website for Star Trek??? Yeah....Winnona Rider is part of the cast....and...you are going to love this one...Tyler Perry....TYLER PERRY???? What the hell! That's weird to me. I guess they cast Winnona to get all the 90's reject drugies to see the movie. And with Tyler Perry, maybe they are trying to get a black audience. Check out the cast here: (Reply to this) |

on Jan 22 2008 08:59 AM "MI3 sucked and so did everything else he did" Really? While I wasn't wowed by MI3 (I don't think he had that much control over it, and he was stuck with Cruise), do you really think LOST sucked? And Alias? I don't think this will be particularly loyal to the original canon, but I think it has the potential to be a damn good movie. (Reply to this) |
|
on Jan 22 2008 09:12 AM Looking forward to it. But guys, really, you lost me at "MI3 sucked." No offense of course, but had you of said "MI2 sucked" then, well, I'd be looking for a thumbs up icon rather than raising an eyebrows is wonder. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jan 22 2008 09:42 AM If you just refresh the page a different camera will be off line most of the time, so you don't have to keep waiting to see a flash of the off line camera (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jan 22 2008 09:52 AM Guys did you read his whole post people he wasnt referring to JJ "HAHAHAHHA Got you going there" read the whole thing guys (Reply to this) |

on Jan 22 2008 10:37 AM In reply to this comment (#1508177) seems we do this a lot, but it's still fun tyler perry presents tyler perry in tyler perry's "Madea XI: A Mad Black Woman Goes to Space (and we mean 'Mad' like angry, not that she's extremely black)" (Reply to this) |
|
on Jan 22 2008 10:58 AM I just realized what a gigantic dork I am. I am geeking out over a teaser trailer!? Yes, yes I am. I am so hoping this does for the Star Trek world what Casino Royale did for Bond. Is it too much to ask? Damn, I'm excited. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jan 22 2008 11:33 AM In reply to this comment (#1508757) Im with you!! My inner geek is going crazy!!!LOL (Reply to this) |

on Jan 22 2008 12:12 PM How about, Tyler Perry Presents: "Star Trek Black-The Wrath of Perry Movies!".....no white people were harmed in the making of this movie. (Reply to this) |
|
on Jan 22 2008 12:26 PM In reply to this comment (#1508904) Add to that ffamilyguy, "no black people were disgraced in the making of this movie." (Reply to this) |
|
on Jan 22 2008 01:15 PM In reply to this comment (#1507806) Here's hoping here too, sunsaz, that this new one can erase all memory of "Star Trek: Nemesis." I was not too fond of "Insurrection", either. (Reply to this) |
![]() on Jan 22 2008 01:59 PM I don't really like Star Trek. But I liked this trailer. And will probably see this movie. (Reply to this) |

on Jan 22 2008 02:41 PM I still maintain the Under Construction tagline is pure genius... (Reply to this) |

on Jan 22 2008 03:33 PM In reply to this comment (#1509650) jnunez, I was about to go ape-$hit on you for posting a major faux pas!.. But then I looked it up and, goddamn, it's true. WHAT - THE - *****!?!?! (Reply to this) |
|
on Jan 22 2008 05:58 PM That trailer is lame. You guys are getting excited over construction footage? Whatever. I really like Simon Pegg, who is playing the young Scotty. But on one episode of his show "Spaced" he said that every odd numbered Star Trek film is s--t. And I can't help thinking of the irony that he is in Star Trek 11. We will find out if he is right next Christmas. (Reply to this) |
|
on Jan 22 2008 08:07 PM In reply to this comment (#1509771) it sucks man. it sucks. (Reply to this) |
|
on Jan 23 2008 04:00 AM In reply to this comment (#1510651) Still wish is were just a bad joke, jnunez. But man, for serious, some of the posts on his tribute board are absolutely despicable. Have you read them? Unbelievable, man. People get banned on here for some pretty innocuous $hit, but some on that board are getting free pass to insult the dead. Where, oh where, are the moderators?! Feh! It's just another one of those things that confirm for me that honor is almost entirely a forgotten word. (Reply to this) |

on Jan 23 2008 10:44 AM Hundreds of people are already concerned that Abrams does not understand the ethics of Star Trek. We wonder about the choice of a man whose other projects repeatedly glorify and attempt to justify the use of torture. We just want to know he sees this is antithetical to the message of Star http Ple (Reply to this) |
|
on Jan 23 2008 12:33 PM In reply to this comment (#1512640) I recall that any time torture was used in other Abrams projects I've seen, it was doing the opposite of glorifying it. It has always been depicted as the lowest point that humans will fall to (at least in Lost and M:I3). If you want to truly productively complain about glorifying torture go complain about the Saw/Hostel movies. But if your mind only revolves around Star Trek and want to find more 'ignoble' things in Star Trek to whine about, I vote for adding womanizing and Roddenberry. That's just despicable behavior, and he supported it! Many peoples' lives are RUINED by chronic womanizers! Terrible! (Reply to this) |
|
on Jan 25 2008 01:21 PM In reply to this comment (#1512640) Or better yet, spend your time getting people to do something about torture in the real world instead of worrying about it in fiction. (Reply to this) |
|
on Jan 25 2008 09:32 PM Yes, I agree with all that was said above; torture is bad, you shouldnt talk **** about the dead, this Star Trek installment has my mouth watering, eventhough it is odd #'d. Just waiting to see a pc version of Capt. Kirk... (Reply to this) |

on Jan 26 2008 07:33 AM All those crisp close-ups and slow-mo shots, reminds me of Michael Bay's style. And that Fleet tech looked like John McGinley. (Reply to this) |
