However, during the gathering a strange glitch occurs, trapping several crew members in an alternate universe--based upon the epic poem BEOWULF--located on the holodeck. Fearful of losing any more crew members to the mysterious force, Janeway orders the ship's virtual doctor to enter the holodeck and find the missing men--a mission that tests the very limits of the doctor's programmed capabilities.
