i dislike the association only in name and the crystal from the first film to this one.
while a big fan of the original, the universe created was so rich that it could warrant a sequel or prequel. in this sequel, the gelfling population will have been long dead unless (and i suppose inevitably) something caries them through until this point. the charm may still be in this expansion, but the mythos created will hopefully not be sacrificed for a cheap disney'esque shameless sequel.

I love The Dark Crystal. but have to wonder why they are bothering to use puppets at all in this, if they're not going to be used on puppet stages. part of the fun of watching The Dark Crystal is trying to figure out exactly how they got the puppets into the places they did. Is it a perfect film? no. But incredibly imaginative... using CGI to make it easier will kill the magic.

Im kind of dissapointed that the Jim Henson company has decided to go with CGI even just to make the backgrounds. I always thought of the Jim Henson company as the last hope for puppet anything. Then i saw the trailer for MirrorMask and was dissapointed that the film was going to be made in pretty much all cgi.

Part of the charm with the dark crystal was the sets on which the film was made because they looked so full of life and were so imaginative that it was hard to believe that someone actually created everything you saw in there.

Im still looking forward too this sequel, im just really dissapointed with the road the henson company is taking.

"The Dark Crystal" is seriously overrated. Why do people get a kick out of it? Team America I can understand. The Muppets in Space, Manhattan, Your Mom's House, whatever, I can understand. But after seeing "The Dark Crystal" a few years back, all I can say is "Do people get high while watching that crap?"

I had only a fuzzy memory of the Dark Crystal from my childhood, instead I have watched Labyrinth dozens of times and love it, so I finally recently saw the Dark Crystal. WOW IS THAT A BAD MOVIE. Granted it's just one person's opinion, but of all the movies to make a two-decade delayed sequel for, this is a terrible choice. Although to be accurate, a two-decade delayed sequel/follow-up to any movie is never a good idea in the first place.

I have to agree. I'm not sure what all the excitement is over "the Dark Crystal". I really didn't care for it that much.
Of course, it could be that Muppets creep me out, especially "Dark" Muppets.

I will ride the "Dark Crystal stunk" wagon. Although technically it was well done and no doubt a lot of work went into it, it had no story worth telling and was just...well...bad. All I can hope is that whatever they do now it better.

the dark crystal was a work of pure fantasy hands down since i saw it at a young age. being 26 years old now, that is all i see it as. the only muppet movie, with only muppets, unless you don't count meet the feebles. but i think the sequel sounds like a good idea puppets or not. open a new generation to this story.
